Thread: Is it possible to communicate with dead souls?

...entirely dependant on your religion (or lack thereof).

I want to know what people believe in regards to the 4 points I made. I'm not looking for answers to anything bothering me, I'm simply trying to get other people's take on the subject.

So Negaigoto, what are your views?

I don't believe they exsist.

I dunno there's some pointers on www.ghoststudy.com on recording dead people's voices and such but i think its all a load of crap, but dont let my opinion influence you.

I know some people who say they seen ghosts, or something done by a ghost(like something flying off a table for no reason). I am not sure if I really believe it or not and I hope I never find out. Would be nice to know its not all over when you die but I think it would just be scary to see one heh. Atleast a ghostly looking one. If it kind of looks like a normal person, or you dont get a good look then its not scary at all.

I can answer most of these questions from experiences I have had in my life.
First off, you can believe me if you wish but if you don't i really don't care (don't mean to sound rude) but I have no need to lie. A few times in the past year a medicine man (I'm Native American) of the Lakota Sioux has visited my family and relatives
and communicates with spirits who have come to the ceremonies. So hopefully I can shed some light on your questions.

1) Souls exist once the material body is gone. I'm sure some may be stuck on this earth and some do by choice, but most go to the spirit world but are able to come back if they wish to this world.

2)These souls have the same intellegnece as they did on earth allthough(spelling?) they are pretty much aware of other knowledge gained once going on to the spirit world.

3)Ummm...can't really answer this one honestly....I'd guess they still believe they're living

4)The medicine man has communicated with many of my realatives and relayed messages from them to the living, giving advice or comfort to the living.

Sidenotes) There are some spirits who help us who have never actually been alive and spirits have the same personalities they had while on earth(usually) and still like to joke and make fun with us. They always seem content in the spirit world but like visiting earth every now and again. Also, time in the spirit world seems to go by different from earth's time...not really sure if its faster or slower to tell the truth. If anyone else has questions I'll try to help out with what I know. And again, I don't mean to offend anyones religious beliefs but don't try to argue because I'm just offering what I know from the religious experiences I've had. Peace.

Yes, you can talk with spirits. Through astral projection.

Preparing for projection

Astral projection is a wonderful experience. But how do you do it? How do you prepare? Learning astral projection will take practice and discipline, but its worth it. First things first, why do you want to project? To comfort you about death? To experience something new? To enhance your psychic abilities? Or just to be able to tell your friends? Whatever the reason is, it must be a good one that will make you want to project. If you don’t want to project on purpose, you most likely won’t. OK. Now on to the second perpetration, fear. Fear will come between you and your goal many times, and its normal, but if you want to get any ware, you must eliminate these fears. There is no way to harm yourself in astral projection. Demons can’t take over your body, so don’t worry about that. You project every night while asleep without knowing, so if demons could take us over, it would have happened already, to billions of people. Fear is not the only thing that can stop you from projecting. There is also religion. The thing about projection being a sin. Well that’s simply not true. Nothing in the bible states that projection is a bad thing. Also, projection does not prove God is fake. Many see Angels while projecting into higher astral plains. Hopefully now your belief’s have changed a little, so lets go on.

Relaxation

On your quest to learn astral projection, relaxation plays a very important role. You must relax your entire physical body to enter the trance state. How to relax? Try this:

- First I suggest a hot bath, or a good workout, to relax your mussels. This will prepare you for deep relaxation.

- After you bath and/or workout, find a comfortable place to sit or lay down. Get in a comfortable position.

- After your in your position, tense your feet and toes for five seconds, loosen them. Do this slowly up your body. Up to your thighs, buttocks, stomach, back, hands, arms, chin, neck, eyes, and cheeks. Then tense all your body parts at the same time, then loosen. Do this till you are totally relaxed.

- Practice everyday and you will soon be able to relax without the exercises.

- Good! You’ve completed the relaxation process!

You have the relaxation down. Good work! Now to the next step.

Clearing your mind

After relaxation, you need to clear your mind. You always have annoying surface thoughts going through your mind. With practice, you can shut down your surface thoughts, and clear your mind. Surface thoughts are those random thoughts going through you mind (e.g. Today sucked. I need to walk my dog! What’s for dinner? Damn I got to go to work tomorrow!).
These thoughts were my biggest obstacle on my quest to have a astral projection. For beginners, I suggest focusing on one thought or picture, such as picturing a square. This will put you in a trance state. But you have to try to block out you surface thoughts. Here’s what it should be like:

Surface thought: I need to walk my dog!

Day one: “I need to walk my do...
Day two: “I need to walk my…
Day three: “I need to wal…
Day four: “I need t…
Day five: “I ne…
Day six: “I…
Day seven: “???”

The time this takes to clear you mind may vary, but if you really try you can get it done in a week. Having a clear surface mind my feel strange at first because of the silence, but learn to enjoy the peace. Once your done with clearing your surface mind, move on to the next step.

Entering the trance state

After clearing your mind, you need to enter the trance state. In our store we will soon have a tape to aid you in entering the trance state. But for now you’ll have to do it alone. Below are some techs for entering the trance state.

Tech #1:

This is the first tech on entering the trance state. First, relax your whole body by using the tensing tech. Now, clear your surface mind. After your surface thoughts are gone, picture a image in your head. Just one image. The background should be all white or all black. Hold this till other images appear. When they do, you are in the trance state.

Tech #2:

This is the second tech on entering the trance state. First, relax your whole body, as you do in the first tech. Now, lay on your back. Lift the upper part of either arm and keep it up. Once it falls, it will wake you up into the trance state.

Note: This next thing I'm going to share uses the HILD tech, I know, I know, but thats the best way to enter the lucid state (I think at least ).

Astral Projection and/or Lucid Dreaming Tech:

This works best if you are EXTREMELY tired. So tired that if you closed your eyes you would fall strait asleep. So, either stay up till 5:00 am or set your alarm clock to go off after about 5 hours of sleep. You will wake up very tired. Just make sure that when you wake, you don’t move. After you’ve woken up, immediately close your eyes and start to move two of your fingers. Do moving as slightly as you can. After 10-30 seconds, plug your nose with your fingers and try to breath from your nose. If you can breath clearly, your in a dream, and knowing that you will turn lucid. Now, you have to choices:

- Stay in your lucid dream and do whatever you want (See “Lucid dreaming” page)

- Wake your mind from your dream and pop out from your body.

If you want a astral projection, wake up your mind. You will pop out from your body!

Hey Pititeh, I thought that was some interesting information. Don't worry about sounding rude, I know you've probably had a lot of people criticize your beliefs hard core. I actually have some native american blood in me. I'm Mexican-American, but my grandparents told me about some of our native american roots.

I have a few questions for you.

I'm curious, do all of us have some spirits that help us in this world, or is there only a small percent of the people who have some spirits help them out in life?

Also, if a spirit is helping us as you say, then will the human being helped know that he's being helped? Will he feel some kind of positive energy at times?

Have you ever contacted a dead spirit? If so, I would love to hear about your experience.

This is off the subject, but something I've always wanted to know; is it possible to communicate with animals?

If anyone has something to share; like their views on the 4 topics in the first post, or any experiences with dead spirits, please talk about it.

All of us have spirits looking out for our best intrest or just watching over us. It is true some people have more spirits than others and these people also have more of a "direct" help from spirits. These people are usually people that are religious and really want to help others. The medicine man that came for instance had 3 spirit helpers (he also has a deep friendship with these spirits) and many other random spirits who came to help him. This is when you really see the spirits working directly but for most people I'd have to say the signs are subtle if noticeable at all so alot of the times the human doesn't have the slightest idea that he's being helped but sometimes you can actually "feel" something guide you. I myself have never contacted a dead person myself...kinda think its outa my reach really...but when the medicine man came and his spirits came they doctored everyone (we sat in a circle) and they went around....when he came to me (the spirit) touched my face with both hands first, then grab my biceps then proceeded to flip my ears a few times (with his index fingers) You could feel their presence and an immense (spelling?) feeling of being loved. Brought tears to my eyes personally...alo really cool to see spirits had a sense of humor. Its possible to communicate with animals...I guess it has to come as a natural gift because I only know of medicine men that can do it. I would have to say that you would have to be at peace with nature and desire to hear the animals.

I believe in God and that all humans will continue to exist in some kind of after-life. The soul is what I believe will continue to exist when the flesh body is dead. I wrote this thread with that assumption so that there will not be a big debate over whether or not God or souls exist. I wanted to get to the meat of the discussion and not let this thread get side-tracked.

The aim I had with this thread was to discuss what ghosts were. What I mean by ghosts is the noticeable but peculiar non-human existance of some kind of entity that some have reported. I'm sure that everyone has at least heard of some kind of story where some person claimed to have seen or recorded a ghost; whether you believe in ghosts or not. This thread is trying to find out if there is any kind of connection between our human souls and these reported ghosts that are in some stories. This is of course assuming that you believe that humans have souls. Without that belief, then this thread can be written off and discussed no further. I want this thread to get past that in order to make progress.

I wouldn't say they're "stuck" but rather that where their manifestation occurs, there is an overlap of there world/reality with ours.
2) If they do exist, do these spirits possess any kind of intelligence? Are they just ignorantly living out some situation that they can't let go of?
It sounds like you are holding onto ideas promoted by legends, TV, or hollywood - which may or may not have some smidgen of truth to their accounts. I would say that the spiritual realms are MUCH more complex than these imaginations try to convey. And yes, they have intelligence, though their "thinking" is much different from ours. Therefore, I think that to say that their motives toward us are good or not good would usually be naive. -Even if you think you know what their purpose or motive is, you CANNOT know, besides simply believing them or believing that you have some insight to be able to discern this.
3) If a ghost really is a spirit of someone and they're stuck in this world/situation, does it feel like a dream to them?
You'll have to wait and see on that one... your asking the living something we could not possibly know.
4) Would you communicate with someone; anyone, who is dead if you could? Please feel free to state who you would like to meet also.
I would not purposely do this, only because I know that from experience, it is VERY dangerous. To invite or invoke, or seek to "talk to" the dead is tantamount to opening all sorts of doors that you have no control over. I would say that even those who claim to have knowledge or skills or gifts in this area cannot have full knowledge of what they are doing, thus they might possibly be "letting in" or "inviting" powers, energies, spirits, etc. that they have no control over or knowledge of. I do believe that there are Shamans, witch doctors, mediums, etc. that are legitimate, but that what they practice is like a child lighting a match in a room full of gasoline containers, then delusionally thinking that he can somehow contain any flames with their hands. In my experience, many "spirits" can be extremely deceptive and manipulative, even presenting themselves as benign or neutral in many instances.

I was hoping more people would've responded to the specific questions on this thread, but so many want to get caught up in the "I dont believe in ghosts" or the "what is a soul" talk. I thought I was clear by capitalizing the assumption in the first post, but I guess not.

I just wanted to hear people's opinion on the subject and not whether they believed in ghosts or try to get technical with what a soul/spirit is.

By the way, if I could talk to anyone who is dead, I would definitely talk to Albert Einstein.

This post is replacing a post I made earlier that somehow got lost.

I wrote that reality is thick with information, only a fraction of which is detectable to our senses. Of that fraction, much is discarded in the act of perception. What we end up seeing are only those things that are almost exactly like us and that we have learned we can use. Qualities like physicality and temporality don't define all that's real, they just reflect what we make it a priority to perceive. If you change those priorities, you encounter all sorts of things outside the normal range. Some of these you could term "spirits"--information streams that lack physicality but are familiar enough that we experience them as entities. Some of the information you encounter in the the stream you now perceive as a "spirit" may once have been part of a stream you called "Aunt Judy," though there is probably more of Aunt Judy scattered around other places.

Through adolescence and early adulthood, spirits of the sort Pîtîtêh describes were part of the way I interacted with the world. These days, they're not so much a day-to-day reality, but I would say they exist to the same extent as you or I--somewhat, but not particularly.

So Taosaur, do you think that there are even more spirits that are in our world that we can perceive? If we change the focus of our perception, is it possible to pick up on more spirits than we normally detect.

There was a time when I was actively exploring the activity of spirits in my environment, and at that time I found myself aware of more spirits, but it was just that I was organizing information differently--it was useful for some things, not useful for others. You are more concerned with spirits of the dead, and I've had no experience there, except for one dream. My experience of people dying is that much of what they were gets redistributed to the living, and their stream of consciousness seems still to hover about the body or the place of death for a bit. It seems to me that it would be unkind to seek out the dead shortly after they die, because you could distract or disturb them at a time when what consciousness they have should be attentive and at peace. So to answer one of your questions, I wouldn't try to speak with the dead.
