A question for you:
If every day was the exact same as before, and you had the exact same thoughts every day, would you eventually begin having the exact same dreams every night?
I think the answer to that questuin would automatically be an answer to the question what exactly dreaming is good for. If it really is just for procession information gathered during the day, then I guess the anwer to your question would be Yes.
If not... well...
Well, that depends...
When did the 'same day' phenomenon start?
Was it at birth?
Was it when you were 5? 10? 20-something?
If closer to the latter, then I think your mind would have enough residual memories and subconscious input to give you different dreams for years and years (if not indefinitely). There would probably be a point where you would start having the same types of dreams, but I highly doubt you would start experiencing the exact same dreams.
If closer to the former, then I don't know. I mean if an infant experienced the same day, since birth, then yeah, I could imagine there being a point where he started to experience the same dreams over and over. I dunno that I'd go so far as to assume that he'd start experiencing the exact same dreams, but the range of sensory input that could add variety to his dreams would be limited, at best.
