Lucid dreams, a place that we go after death

Do you believe, that after we die we go to a lucid dream environment. Where it is shared with other souls also. I'm not saying that I believe this, but I can be open to the idea.

Better suited for the philosophy forum...try to get a mod to move it there.

Yeah, I should be so lucky. That would be awesome! Most likely, though, is that at the end of your life, poof...game over. That's all she wrote. Take Occam's Razor to the afterlife, and you'll see that this solution has the fewest variables. I seriously hope I'm mistaken, though.

If that did happen, I would be challenging people to telekinetic duels left and right...should we ever meet, by the way, I'll take great pleasure in smiting you. JK...

If that's that case then we are probably already dead, sifting through dream to dream.

I think death is nothing but a permanent OBE, so essentially yeah it would be like a dream, you can do anything you want...but i'm not sure why anyone would want to incarnate in this shithole

You shouldn't be calling it a shithole considering you are one of the richer people of the world...Having a computer/internet probably means you're in the top 20% (if not less) of the richest people in the world.

Maybe when we die we realize the potential we have as a species and go back to make it better. /endfuzzies

Trust me, I'm nowhere "NEAR" rich. These days computer and internet are pretty affordable.

I've been in the "slum's" of my city..and still it's nowhere near as bad as it is overseas....actually it makes the poorest of America look like spoiled children, they way they have medicaid/medicare and foodstamps and other government aid.

I've never been overseas but I had this video, that was shot somewhere in the middle east, MAN it's terrible over there...here in the states you steal some candy you get a slap on the wrist, you steal some candy over there and they cut your whole goddamn forearm off.

The video I'm talking about is called Faces of Death I think.

I think that after death we go to the astral realms for some time, but then advance to other "levels".

In Finnish mythology there is a place for afterlife called Tuonela ( lit. Beyond). It is very much alike Hades in Greek mythology, yet in Tuonela you sleep eversleep in a frozen chamber, dreaming forever.

Somehow, if I had to choose, that would be the best way for me to spend afterlife. I like the idea. Finnish mythology is interesting in many other ways too
Jujutsu is the gentle art. It's the art where a small man is going to prove to you, no matter how strong you are, no matter how mad you get, that you're going to have to accept defeat. That's what jujutsu is.

      Moved to Philosophy.
You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.

Been watching too much "what dreams may come" lately, eh? as for death...whatever happens, happens. Personally it's pretty boring speculating because that's all you can do....speculate.

I guess that is 1 way of thinking about it, but can Occam's Razor even be used in this kind of thing? it's death. There really is no simple explanation for one of, if not "the" biggest mystery in the world.

Well if you want to be really simple with Razor, you can say there is only a void since the neural activity in your brain stops and there is no evidence of soul.

Yet, I didn't take this thread as serious life-after-death-thread, rather I wanted to romantice a bit, sharing one of my own favorite afterlife idea

Oh, I see...in that case, I hope that, when we die, we get the option of coming back as ghosts capable of interacting with the physical world. It'd be great! I could haunt people I don't like, continue on with whatever I was doing in my physical life, possess people, continue tending to my garden, live on a tropical island...yeah, that would be awesome!

I think you need a brain to lucid dream. A live one, in fact.

What would suck is if its just a normal dream, and you just keep going through random events, and never really realize your are dreaming at all. Then you end up forgetting most of it and stuff.

yea that would suck. I don't think that would happen but LucidFlanders made a good point, all we can do is speculate and there is no reason to waste our life wondering what is going to happen when we die.
