My Journey of Transcendence and how it has changed me

I agree with you about the parents. I used to lie to my parents all the time, now I am very honest with them and have found that they are much more accepting and much cooler than I ever thought. Also I am older now, and they realize that as an adult I an responsible and can make my own choices, but still, I've told them some crazy shit that I never ever thought they would have accepted. Looks like I have a lot to catch up on in this thread though. Also I love that picture of the blue world...what did you use to create that? It's just lovely. :)

I used GIMP, it's a pretty long process and requires applying textures and mocking up textures but the end result is beautiful. It took me about four hours to make it. I would use Photoshop but can't afford it, so i just use gimp, and with the right techniques you can do a lot of the same stuff that photoshop can produce.

Also, i've been watching watchmen a lot lately and i find Dr. Mahattan's role in the movie to be eye opening.

The movie or the motion comic??? I've been watching the motion comic over and over. I really should go out and buy the comic. Dr Manhattan was such a great character. He had absolute power and yet he was powerless to change the future. So brilliant.

I'm wanna transform into Dr Manhattan in a dream now.

Comic is god tier. But I'd never want to be Dr Manhattan.

Enjoy not being human, and not being "you" anymore. I'm quite fond of me.

it would be an experience i would lik to partake in. i can almost guess what it'll be like to be me, and live my life, but it would truly be amazingly different and unique to experience that. I don't believe i wouldn't be me, i believe it would be like being born again, but i would know what i was like as a human so i think i would remember myself and my personality, it may be a dull reflection of that person i once was but i would explore the universe, i would do so much... so much.

Naturally as i'm choosing this i would want to first get my book published

The wonder and awe you're imagining of that knowledge and of exploring the universe is something exclusive to humanity. You are imagining how wonderful it would be from your current viewpoint. If you now could have all this knowledge, and be able to explore anywhere, that's how you're imagining it.

The truth is alot more sombre I'm afraid. There's a reason Dr Manhattan never shows emotion. With absolute knowledge and power the sense of wonder and mystery I KNOW you find in the universe now, would be gone. I'd never sacrifice that.

Basically: The beautiful and mysterious things you are imagining being able to do and know, are only so beautiful and mysterious from the limited viewpoint of a human. If you were like him, you wouldn't feel that anymore.

You'd lose that, and for me, that would be self defeating.

well, i take back my stance on willingness to become Doc Manhattan.
There's a beauty in discovery that i would be barred from for eternity. Screw that, plus i would want a relationship where the other person surprises me...

This is the technique i use when meditating.

Preparation:


I envision the sky from eye level (as if you were to be sitting on a cloud) and i see the clouds in the sky as thoughts.
The cloud I am sitting on is small, a simple thought of meditation. I envision it being just before sunrise.
I begin slowing my breathing, calming my body. Then once i can clearly hear my heartbeat, and it comes to a monotonous rhythm.
I envision each of my breathes in as bringing the sun to rise, slowly climbing over the horizon. While i also envision my breathes out as a great wind, blowing the clouds away, across the horizon. Once the Sun has reached it's rise and sits on top of the horizon and the sky is clear, i know i'm ready for some serious meditation.

Meditation:

I then see the sun as my subconscious with it's light being blinding thoughts. I also envision it's rays that stretch out as conduits, that reach into, and through me. The rays channel the light/subconscious thoughts threw me. I do not try to meditate on all the thoughts, but choose one each time to meditate on.

The Void is the clear, quite, sharpened mind.

I haven't posted in here in a while, but i have something to share once more.


I was in a Taco Bell drive thru two days ago and ordered a chicken/steak quesidilia with a soft taco and baja blast to drink.
I asked for a steak quesidilia instead of chicken.
I awaited until i was on a long open stretch of highway to eat my food as i was driving a manual transmission.
I ate the soft taco first, and had a drink of my baja blast.
I then proceeded to eat my quesidilia, i bit into it and immediately realized it was chicken instead of steak.
I'm not one to complain, and i'm a Zen Buddhist so i shouldn't've.
But i wont lie, the thought arose and i became slightly irritated as i chewed the chicken.

Then, something amazing happened.
From this single simple event, so small and insignificant seeming.
I arrived at an insight into life and took yet another step on my journey to enlightenment.

I suddenly had this wave of happiness spread over me.
I realized that although it was a mistake, it was one that changed my day.
I enjoyed the chicken quesidilia and how it tasted.
I realized that i received a wonderful surprise from a mistake.

The insight i received from this is:

Do not look at failures, mistakes, and problems as things that which you should become so upset over and
disregard as things to move past or out of. Instead, look to them, and see what diversity and joy they can bring by teaching us things.
Try to see with acceptance that a problem is not always a hindrance but in most cases can be the vessel by which you arrive at the solution, and in doing so you have gained a certain knowledge from it.

In this sense, we can understand that there are actually no real problems or failures in the world.
