Atheists, what did/do you do with your old religious stuff?

Like crosses and whatnot? I'm cleaning my room and I came across my baptism candle and this first communion cross thing I got and I don't really know what to do with it. I feel like I shouldn't just throw it out for some reason.

Probably gonna save the candle and use it if I ever need one, maybe put it in a birthday cake to be ironic. Not sure what to do with the cross at all.
157 is a prime number. The next prime is 163 and the previous prime is 151, which with 157 form a sexy prime triplet. Taking the arithmetic mean of those primes yields 157, thus it is a balanced prime.

I'm not an atheist, but I no longer practice the religion in which I was raised, so am I allowed to respond? Or is this only for atheists?

I kept my stuff. It's a part of my history. And I'm a packrat.
I don't usually think, therefore I mostly am not.

I never had any religious stuff.

Well, I had a bible that was hardback. I think I accidentally set it on fire or something. Whatever.

      I'm sure you can reply.

I never had much religious stuff either. My family is Jewish and my Bat Mitzvah stuff is probably still around the house somewhere. I had a necklace with a star of david on it and have no idea where that is now.

I got rid of the religious stuff prior to my becoming one of Jehovah's Witnesses. JW's don't venerate the cross, so I got rid of mine (I donated them or threw them away). They also don't view angel's quite the same way so I packed a couple up. One, I keep out for sentimental reasons (it belonged to my grams). I got rid of most holiday items except for cards. Reading material was either placed on my bookcase for reference material, donated or trashed.

I have two Bibles in my closet. One is pretty worn from years of use (I was required to take 4 religion classes because I attended a private, christian school), and the other I got for my high school graduation and I haven't ever opened that one up.

It's funny: While I'm reading this thread I see an advertisement for christian pillgrimmages to Israel.

To Topic: I was raised catholic which gave me the worst time of my life until the age of 16. Quite shizophrenic to teach children about a guy who claims to love you but will punish you in hell.
I think the Bible I got for first communion is anywhere under the roof of my parent's house as well as the rosary beads.

Yep to what? lol (that had nothing to do with me, but I find it funny when people ask two questions which require different answers and someone answers "yes" haha)

The only religious things I had were candles and stuff from school and necklaces that my grandma bought me.
I burned the candles or threw them out or something.
Both the necklaces mysteriously disappeared, seriously. I take it as a sign from god that religion is bullshit.

To burn your old religious stuff is to be religious. Only a religious person would think old bibles hold power over them.

How is this at all logical? Burning things = being religious? No.

People don't tend to burn books to keep warm... it's either done to make a statement or because of superstitions.

Piss on them, singe them a bit, and nail them up in prominent locations around your home or community, upside down if applicable.

^See, this is what I'm talking about. This person clearly has not gotten over their religion.

      it was a joke, friend.
not that this quote has anything to do with your previous statement.

forgot to mention the paintings of the virgin mother breastfeeding her only son. beautiful work.

Actually, I was raised without religion and currently practice several.

      BOW BOW!
How can you possibly believe that?

I burnt my old school uniform coz I hated the school. Not because I thought it held power over me. Throwing it in the trash wasn't as satisfying.

I used to have a buybull for school. I was kind of lazy with all my textbooks, so if it's still in a closet somewhere, it doesn't have covers at this point hehe.

I never consciously threw anything away. When you talk about throwing things away, I imagine you're talking about it in a kind of mini-ritual, like letting go of the past. Kinda like in Titanic, when the woman threw the necklace or whatever it was back into the sea.

However, since it has lost all meaning to me, the act of getting rid of it also wouldn't really have much meaning to me.

No it's more of an "I need space to put shit" ssort of ritual. I was more of looking for something fun or funny to do with it. Most of the stuff is completely unused still in the box so I don't wanna throw it away, it would feel wasteful.

Donate it to a church or library or something. Or just Goodwill.

Not as satisfying as murdering the atmosphere?
