      The Great Debate @ NCSU

I totally forgot to post this when it happened, but yeah.

      Is There Evidence For God?

NCSU hosted a debate between particle physicist Dr. Lawrence M. Krauss and Christian apologetic Dr. William Lane Craig on the topic of whether or not there was sufficient evidence for a god. Needless to say, it was a pretty interesting event. It's a bit lengthy, but I'd definitely recommend checking it out.

Also, a group of fellow students and I went out to eat with Dr. Krauss afterward which was baller as fuck.

You're a lucky bastard. Krauss is one of my favorite scientists.

I watched the debate, sort of. I skipped through Craig's posts mainly because he always says the same shit and hasn't had a new argument in fucking forever. Krauss did pretty good, but seemed to rely on his notes a lot. Craig's debate with Sam Harris should be good.

Craig lost me around 17 min when he starts talking about Jesus. Unfortunately, I couldn't watch Krauss for long because he is an extremely poor public speaker.

Krauss is actually a pretty good speaker IMO. Watch his video called "A Universe from Nothing." I dunno what was up with him during the debate. He was relying on his notes a lot and saying "ah" and "um." But that might be because, as he stated, he doesn't like/normally do debates.

Here's Krauss's response to the debate.

      The ending is the kicker:
What I hoped I could convey to the truly open minded intellects in the audience, of which of course Craig was not one, was that the amazing effort to understand how the universe works reveals wonders far more remarkable than those presented by Bronze age myths, developed before we had any clear understanding of how the universe works. Simply arguing that one doesn't understand the results, or doesn't like the results and therefore one has to resort to supernatural explanations, which was the crux of Craig's rather monotonous repetition of his syllogisms, is indeed intellectually lazy, as I did say at the time.

All I can say is that I am surprised that any of Craig's arguments are taken seriously at all. He contradicts himself multiple times and makes a lot of fallacious claims in his opening...

157 is a prime number. The next prime is 163 and the previous prime is 151, which with 157 form a sexy prime triplet. Taking the arithmetic mean of those primes yields 157, thus it is a balanced prime.

Im not implying that Krauss is unintelligent but Craig really shines when he debates less charismatic people. There is a really good debate between Shelly Kagan and William Craig. Needless to say Craig gets his ass handed to him the entire debate.
