A Prayer for Boston and for Us All

      Dear Father,

Today You had it in Your plan that many at the Boston Marathon should experience a terrorist attack. There have been injuries; some have gone home, and still more may cross over to You. We accept in faith that Your plan will be revealed to us in time, but until then we pray for the rapid healing of those who will live, the glory of heaven for those who have gone home, and the courage as a nation to act with the power of Christ against those who have wrought these evil deeds.

If there is a lesson to be learned, we want the wisdom. If there is love to be shown, we want to be its instrument. If good can come in the face of disaster, we will wait for it, but if war has come again, may we exact Your perfect wrath upon those who have harmed the innocent.

Place upon the heads of those who suffer now and those who mourn Your perfect peace, dear Lord. Let nothing be in vain.

In the name of Christ, we pray. Amen

      Hi EdwardG

Your10 short (3 minute) YouTube are great.

Then I Googled "The Veridian Church"

      Uuum

I think maybe that Satan may represent the brute-animal nature that operates by mindless animal instinct. If nurture was sadly lacking then a human may grow up with a warped nature capable of animal-like cruelty. (e.g. like the way the well-fed and loved family kitty-cat will play with, then kill, a mouse or little native lizard, bird or other small animal.

It may never be possible to stop a loved domestic kitty-cat from getting all-excited when it smells a mouse (even your own childs precious pet mouse). If the kitty-cat gets at the pet fish, bird or mouse it will torture then kill it. It is not hungry. It is just following a blind-automatic program.

Sinners are doing the same (in my opinion)

      I like your:

      Veridican Articles of Faith

I want a copy of your bible. I don't want to use a credit card so can I order one through my favorite bookshop here in Adelaide, Australia?

Thanks for reading and responding, DebraJane. I'm glad you took the time to check out Veridicanism a bit. The Veridican Gospel of Jesus Christ is, of course, free online, but if you want a book, I'm sure you could go to any bookstore and they would order it from Amazon for you.

      Take care,

      Ed

If this is not trolling, I would like to say that I consider your statement to seriously trivialise the tragic nature of these events. They were the product of irrationality and hatred. To say instead that they were the product of divinity... is something I consider warped and dangerous.

Please, tell us clearly what it is that you are implying. I want to make sure that you aren't disrespectfully ridiculing people's spiritual beliefs within a thread that is meant to help people grieve, in their own way, to a national tragedy involving multiple casualties.

What sort of sick comfort does it bring to claim that the God they're praying to had it "in his plan" that two bombs would go off? That is repulsive and offensive.

      Completely irrelevant.
This thread is not about whether or not God exists, or how you feel about other people's beliefs.
I will call out every one of these troll posts that you make.
      Have some respect!

If you would like to join OP in prayers and sympathy to those affected by terrorist act, feel free. If not, stay out. This is not the place to debate wheather you agree with OP or not.

I agree with you, but I also don't think this is the right thread to argue about religious beliefs. It shouldn't really be in extended discussion except that it's the only part of the forum for religion.

It's not really an argument in the sense of militance for some religious position or other. It's more about putting a moral question to the OP and others who read the thread. If a preacher stopped me on the street and made a similar proclamation, I would raise the point with him... and I don't see any problems with that situation as an avenue. If somebody says something where you think it's morally questionable, and that they should question it, I think it's best to put your position to them there and then. If they don't want to hear it, you can just move along.

Everything everyone says is morally questionable to someone. If I questioned everything I heard that I think is "morally questionable", I'd never stop arguing. You will never be able to make everyone see everything the way you do, but you won't be able to see everything from their point of view either. If it doesn't affect my life or someone else, I don't worry about it too much and silently disagree with them.

Thank you all very much for taking the time to read the prayer I composed for the people of Boston, even if you vehemently disagree with my view of God or religion, I still appreciate you taking the time to consider it, and hopefully offer up a private prayer of your own for those same people.

It seems life turns on a dime for us when we least expect it, and it never turns in a way we would go on our own. I grieve for those people in Boston and for our entire nation at this time, but I believe God controls everything, and with one hand He creates; with the other He destroys, and in it all there is a plan that He has deemed worthwhile. Who am I to judge the Creator of the Universe?

We live only a short while through manifold sufferings, and then we go back home--such is the fate of us all.

      God bless.
