"Channelling" - have you come across it before?

Hi fellow DV'ers,

I have a a two part question for you all!

Firstly, what do you think about 'channelling'? Have you read any channelled books before, or heard the term used much? What are your thoughts? Do you have any bad connotations about the word?

Some famous ones I know of are Conversations with God, Esther Hicks' Abraham books, Jane Roberts' Seth Material, among others.

Secondly, and the reason I ask, is despite still being unsure of it's validity and the science behind it, I've been channelling on and off for years, and my mother has been doing it for about 20 years. Not the angel, tarot, ascended master out there stuff, but quite practical material very similar to the books above.

Now, I'm a 27 years old male, and although I'm quite skeptical about all this new age material around the place, this channelling content has helped me out incredibly so far in my life (and others too). I want to put the best of this stuff on a website, so others can gain from it too....especially Gen Y, those 35 and below, who most of this new age stuff isn't written for (as we're not in the female over 40 demographic).

I'm trying to figure out how best to approach it - whether to call it channelling, or an energy, or just say it's some wisdom I'm passing on. That will then determine how I write the content - well, if I leave it as is, or re-write it.

All thoughts are MUCH appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Could you define what you mean by channeling?

Speaking for a non physical being/group/something.

It's not like psychic stuff, where people say 'I'm feeling this' - it's people talking FOR the being/group.

I can't even comprehend what it means to be "non-physical," so I place myself on the side that considers it to be nonsense.

I've read a lot of channelled material over the years. I'm kinda on the fence of what it means when someone says they "channel" information. I mean, if they claim to channel an alien from wherever, why should I care what this alien has to say? Even if an alien REALLY is communicating in this manner - should I listen to them?

But, I also like to live by the old saying, heed wise words even if it comes from an ant. Or something like that.

So, whether or not the information actually is being channelled isn't something I care about. If the information is useful, then I'll listen! I don't really care if you claim its from Krishna or the flying spaghetti monster.

I guess that's been the way I see it - if the information/wisdom is useful, then it's useful. I'll take note of where it's from, but still, if it's good it's good.

Would you read a blog with that sort of information though, that dances around where it came from? Would you be more interested in something that claims the info is from somewhere else, and just kind of writes it in a format sounding a bit more cosmic, or would you prefer material that's written by an author (a person), with no sort of qualifications or background, just sharing knowledge they've taken from where ever?

I sort of feel like the channelling gives it a unique touch, i.e. it's not just another blog about inspirational shit you'd find printed on coffee mugs or photoshopped over a nice landscape photo and posted on pinterest!
