That is interesting. I had always known it to be a hell on earth. An inbetween heavan and hell. Trapped. To suffer in agony, dispair and pain.
But with these additions one could still amke itto heavan. And also I would guess hell might want them too??
Howetzer... you surprise me with your interesting questions... (you remind me that my business when I was pressed into the Military Forces in my youth... no, I will not tell you for which Nation I fought or in which War... was in the Artillery, to fire Howetzers).
Regarding Hell. Catholic Theologians have been thrown into a chaotic uproar by the Marian Apparition at Fatima Portugal in 1917 who succeeded in pressing through the reform of adding a Prayer Clause to the well established Rosary Prayer, which is as follows:
Holy Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the Fires of Hell and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of Thy Mercy.
Well, I might be crazy but those in most need of Thy Mercy would sound a lot like those souls in Hell, wouldn't they.
It makes one wonder whether the struggles and torments of hell, even if they are inflicted by those of similar mind, do eventually bring about a change of Heart.
Let us say that Stalin goes to hell and is victimized by Hitler. Hitler has Stalin put in chains and has Stalin roosted over open flames, just to intimidate him and show him who is boss (since that is probably how Hell is run, not being much different from the World). Well, it could be that Stalin might come to reflect that this is the very way he used to treat people, and that it is not so fun when he is on the receiving end. Who knows but that George Bush, though infinitely stupid, might even be susceptable to an infinitely powerful impression that inflicting loss upon others (and is not Economic Competition the infliction of Loss upon others?) is to be ultimately regretted.
So, it may be that some certain souls in hell might have a political change of heart.
Afterall, life had been short. Some people are not so smart and discerning. Perhaps only in Hell they came to understand where they went wrong, and have truly come to repent of it.
there was even a short time that I read Ayn Rand, that conservative nazi bitch, and thought of the value of Indivuality -- and then the Reagan Revolution showed us that, no, individuals are simply exploitive predators with no socially redeeming value. And I went back to Socialism, congratulating myself that I had had an open mind for an minute, but the good sense to shake off some silly fictional propaganda. But my point is, people may be caught up by prevalent cultural values of their time, and only when they are in Hell, and receive the 'opposite and equal moral reaction' to their Karma, their dealings with others, that they come to reflect that they had been wrong, and that they truly come to repent of their behaviors.
Well, the Theologians had always thought that hell was Eternal. But now, with Mary's Prayer, which they were not successfully able to derail, but was incorporated into the Rosary with or without their approval or concurrance, they are confronted with the Possibility that even Souls in Hell may be lifted up and out because of their Honest Regret.
