      Thumbs up

I dont know if anyone has ever read this book and im not sure who the author is but It takes instances in the bible and other holy books and describes how the "Gods" could have been space travelers coming to earth and breeding with us. This sounds like a far fetched idea...but they came at it with a scientific base. It says that when "God" would come down from the heavens it would be in a firey blaze, with flames coming out of all sides. Also it gives a good reason why people beleived there were half human half gods. It would be that the aliens would interbreed with us and the babys were thought to be Half Gods.

I say this out of curiousity of what others think, i myself believe in God. I guess im more agnostic but i lean more toward christianity, i will say i dont believe in alot that they say but whatever.

My opinion, as to what everyone considers God is this:

An advanced race of Aliens came and Terraformed Earth (thus the extinction of the dinosaurs), and made it habitable for humans and other species. From time to time they would revisit earth and give us things they thought we need (religion).

If theres any kind of God, I think my version is infinitly more plausible. But I believe in science and what science shows us, and so far, it doesn't show us god, it shows Evolution and nature working together to create life.

My parent's have that book, I read it once, interesting read. I think it was called Chariots of Fire? Not sure though, I'll try to find it.

EDIT: D'oh it wasn't Chariots of Fire, it was Chariots of the Gods : Was God An Astronaut? by Erich Von Daniken, I'm going to look it out and read it again!

There's certain things science cannot and will not ever be able to explain. Consciousness is a prime example. Scientists, along with everyone else, have absolutely NO idea how we can possibly be aware of our own existence. Down to the wire, all we are is a bunch of particles and atoms. We are basically physical hardware, like a computer, but somehow we are aware of our existence and have the ability to make choices. The assumption that follows is that we are not actually physical beings, but something else entirely. Can science tell us what we are? No. Also, the proposal of the big bang theory does not explain existence. In order for the big bang to happen, some sort of existing THINGS had to create it. Where did these things come from? Gas and dust just appeared one day? Without a creator, there is the assumption that the universe spawned from absolutely nothing, which is without a doubt completely absurd if you actually speculate on what "nothingness" actually is. Imagine no space, time, or ANY conscious being whatsoever. You can't. It just isn't possible for nothingness to have existed, or not existed, at some point. Our existence is something that is eternal, SOMEHOW it is eternal, and that's what makes it such a miracle. Only an incredible, intelligent, benevolent force could create such a miracle in such a perfect manner. Just look at the sky and imagine the infinite depths of the universe; the beautiful galaxies along the stretches of infinity. I don't understand atheists at all; they look at a beautiful piece of art in a museum and know it is common sense that SOMEONE painted or perhaps sculpted it. Then comes our existence, the most beautiful and intricate thing of all, and they give credit to nobody. For God's sake (no pun intended), it's your own body and existence we're talking about. So the beautiful painting has an artist, but the intricacy and natural beauty of your life does not? So many people are alive, yet so few are aware of the implications that being alive entails.

Well I think that my version of god is the true, living divine creator of all of us.

Seems that we see a hand of god/gods in everything we cannot explain. In the distant ages people were afraid of streaks of lightning as they believed they had to come from gods. The moon was also associated with mysticism, not to mention the sun. Now we all laugh at those ancient people, but within a 1000 years or more the future generations will be laugh at us taking as a primitive bunch of fools.

There is no need to put a label on every single thing. We look for the answers in the stars, whereas we cannot find the answer how to get along with a neighbor next door.
      I'm tired being sorry.
