The assumption is that God created us. That being so surely an omnipotent being, as God is believed to be, should have known the trouble and strife his creation of human beings would cause. Should God apologise for making so many errors in his handiwork?

I would argue that if an omniscient, omnipotent god created the world, knowing, as s/he/it must, all of the sadness, horror, terror, etc that would naturally unfold, it was a purposeful decision and therefore nothing for which to apologize. Why apologize for doing precisely what you intended to do? For an omniscient, omnipotent being, there can be no uncertainty in the outcome of one's actions. Presumably if such a creator created this world, it had a reason beyond "shits and giggles" for doing so in such a way as to beget suffering and happiness in measures which are often sadly unequal.

If the world has an omniscient creator, then it was a set-up from the beginning. Human beings were designed to "fall from grace" (eat the apple in the Christian creation story) and be damned. We were "programmed" to immediately commence killing each other and our cohabitants on this planet in ever-more-creative and efficient ways while ironically lamenting the terrible brutality of the world. We simply followed through on the inevitable and inescapable as our supreme creator watched with satisfaction like a director screening his newest movie - one whose outcome he personally determined and already knows.

It's a rigged game. Does a carnie apologize when a mark shells out $50 in a futile attempt to win a stuffed teddy bear by tossing a basketball into a bent hoop? No, of course not. He takes the money and snickers into the cash box as the confused and distressed mark slumps away.

(That's a bit of a pessimistic response, I'm afraid, but I've had this conversation with conservative friends too many times before to not be a bit cynical and jaded.)

God should stfu and make me a sandwich.

      -

Basicly, dear topic maker, you are an agnost. You can not truely believe in a christian god if you do not believe he is perfect. At least ALOT of christians would disagree with you.

Well at least you are thinking about it. Good job!

If I would believe in god, an intelligent higher being. Then yes, god should appologise, he totally screws innocent people over all the time, allso, he is all powerfull yet lets the 'devil' (and related anti-gods) seduce us. If he was all powerfull, he wouldn't have created hell.

God should appologise, for being a total asshole that is.

Of course he should have known all the mistakes he did .. I mean, he is almighty and all that, how could the most banal thing go wrong?
But see - god couldn't apologize, since he isn't there; because if he was, all those mistakes wouldn't have happened .. you know.

Have you people glanced at the bible? (Excluding Peregrinus, maybe) I'm not Christian and I've read it.
The reason that the world is fucked results from the apple.
He created Hell after Lucifer defied him.
This is basic stuff. You can say God is an asshole, I guess, but read the stories first.

      I'm tired being sorry.

God the Retard should apologise...how much reverence can you have for a creator that includes old ppl shitting their pants when they get too old?...or are you gonna blame this on the eating of an apple too?

if something existed (and im not saying it does) but if something existed that is the cause for all of this when they could have made something soo much more beautiful...they could have made a really great place...imagine you had infitine powers what a great world You could create...but this is what God the Country Hick chose to make instead. ...

btw if the reason the world is so fucked up is a woman ate an apple a long time ago...thats really sad.

so is this the best god can do?...maybe god should say sorry...or take some blame? of fix somthing? or be strangled?

(anyways thats enough poorly written ranting...ill let you know if im struck by lightning anytime soon.)

That's really funny. The idea of the humans being condemned for eternity for a hungry lady who ate an apple? That kind of fairy tales are good for the kindergarten kids. Fortunately she didn't eat all the apples from the tree, if she had done, we all would have been dead so far.
      I'm tired being sorry.

First of all, misspelling is inevitable on the internet. However, words like doesn't can be spelled correctly simply by checking your posts before clicking 'add reply', or by editing.

Secondly, you say that sometimes the bible sais a a thing, but that does not mean that it.. does..

I don't understand that logic. That is like 1+1=2, but 2 is not equal to 2.

      appologies

first off, no, I said just because someONE says the Bible says something, it dosn't mean that the Bible says that. Also, the person may be miss interprating. you can't understand the Bible just by glancing at it. There is a lot of symbology involved.

Ah I didn't understand you ment that. I do agree in a way. But I only agree becouse I think you can get anything you want from the bible. Howver what I find ironicly, is that for more then a thousand years all christians saw every word of the bible as completely true: God did make the world in seven days, 7 times 24 hours. Not like some christians say now: 'yeah, but days back then could have been any length becouse there wasn't a sun'. Allso, the bible said the earth was the center of the universe. All christians believed that. Now they just accepted (after about 100 years) the clear fact that the earth actually revolves around the sun. However they totally ignore the centries of wrongness by christians before them. Allso, christians in the past honestly believed that god was above them, in the 'heaven', in the sky. Now that we send a rocket up there, it's pretty clear that there isn't any heaven around there, and heaven all of a sudden turned into a sort of an alternative demension in modern christians eyes.

The only reason christianity survived is becouse it has adapted. It has Totally changed over the years. A christian from 500 A.D. will Totally disagree with one from modern day.

Let me try to understand the Christian God. I want to think about it from his point of view... "Hmmm.... I am the only thing that exists. I want to create a system of existence, and I can do it ANY way I want to do it. What should 2 + 2 equal? Uh, how about 4? Okay, I will create the principle of 4 after creating 2. I guess I will, hmmm, make everything equal to itself. I want to throw in that time idea I was thinking about. I can create whatever laws of reality I want, and exclude any laws I decide not to use. Okay, a universe from total scratch. Allright, I've got it! I will create trillions of stars. Around one of them, I will create zillions and zillions of conscious organisms, all of which will deal with a lot of horror and suffering, and one of which will have a majority that will burn forever and ever for disobeying my rules. Then I will change things by going to their planet as my son and being tortured to death so that they no longer have to burn forever for disobeying my rules but instead for thinking I did not go to their planet as my son to be tortured to death for the purpose of changing up the rules. Of course, I could make an infinite number of conscious beings infinitely happy forever and make it where there is no probem whatsoever with that, but screw it. I like this tortured forever for not thinking I had myself tortured to death as my son stuff."

That is the idea, right? There would definitely be an enormous element of maliciousness or apathy involved in that. Would you do things that way? I don't even think Hitler would do something that terrible. If that is how things happened, then God is not totally loving. That is not the epitome of good.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

Hmmmm... I dunno, I've made some pretty sad sims... (Yeah, I used to play that game)

One poor sim was so ugly, I had to make a kitchen fire and lock him in the room to burn him to death. I sort of felt a bit guilty afterwards, but at least I didn't have to look at his face anymore.

      Nice parallel:

      Sim - geeky computer nerd.

      You - God.

      -

Or replace 'god' with 'thing created by mankind of control sims' (the software).

I would like to see this written in fire across the night sky for all to see.

      WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE

      - GOD

Not that it would fix anything but it would help!
Of course, then we would demand that restitutions be paid out as well!
