I would argue that if an omniscient, omnipotent god created the world, knowing, as s/he/it must, all of the sadness, horror, terror, etc that would naturally unfold, it was a purposeful decision and therefore nothing for which to apologize. Why apologize for doing precisely what you intended to do? For an omniscient, omnipotent being, there can be no uncertainty in the outcome of one's actions. Presumably if such a creator created this world, it had a reason beyond "shits and giggles" for doing so in such a way as to beget suffering and happiness in measures which are often sadly unequal. |
