Would You Accept This?( Espeically Religious People)

Hey guys, this is my first topic in the religious forum but it was something that has interested me recently.

If next week an advanced alien race came to Earth and landed ships in every country to tell us that they were technically our Gods, would you accept it? Now i'm not saying they are truly Gods, though that depends on your definition of a God. They don't actually want us to worship them, they have come because they feel we are ready for the truth, and that truth is that they created us.

Now i'm not saying they created the first single celled bacteria billions of years ago. They may not have even created the dinosaurs and early mammals. But there is a slight missing link between the humaniod Apes and us now. So i'm suggesting that either by making us in a lab or by genetic interference, they did make modern man. Obviously they didn't want to interfere to much with us, they mainly wanted to watch how a civilisation develops over time. But they slowly started introducing themselves to our timeline by various methods. One example would have been introducing the believe in Gods by speaking to some people and causing miracles in some areas. After time they sent down one of their own in humanoid form( Jesus), they went around preaching about God and doing various miracles to make sure we believed.

They used religion in olden times because they felt we weren't ready to know and it would interfere to much in development, we would constantly ask them for things, which was proven by the amount of praying for things. But after 2000 years of Jesus they felt that we had modernised enough, we knew the answers to most questions and we had a great interest in our origins and meeting new races. So they decided we were ready to meet them. They explain everything, they explain why they made religion, they may even show us how theycan create life with what to them is simple machinery.

So if this happens, will you accept it, they have shown us evidence to back up their claims, they show us each stage of our developement, they show us how they changed our DNA over time. They may even create a human before our eyes.

So after all this, will you accept them as our creators, our Gods( if you are religious). Some would but some wouldn't, some may even try to fight them and destory them for "lieing". I was just wondering what your response would be? Especially strong religious people since they would not be your vision of what God would be, since they are just another very advanced race, after all we may create lifeforms in the future.

I would accept them as our creators if they could really prove it, and I would majorly thank them. But if they wanted me to start worshipping them, I would see them as emotionally primitive. They wouldn't get worship out of me. Nothing that asks to be worshipped is worthy of being worshipped.

I agree with that. Nothing that asks to be worshipped is worthy of being worshipped, and nothing that never asks to be worshipped is anything there is any point in worshipping. So nothing is worthy of being worshipped.

Yes im not really saying we must worship them, they did that in the past to help guide us, but now they dont ask it of us.

I would like some religious responses, i mean technically they are your God, but would you accept them, afterall they are just another race, not some omnipotent being.

Maybe one day we will actually be able to do this with other races, would that make us Gods?

It doesn't make them gods. A farmer is not automatically the god of his vegetables.

I wouldnt care what the aliens would have to say, since I do not take the bible literally as meaning God sculpted us out of his own hands. In this scenario God created the natural laws that biology of any form or kind would have to adhere to. All living substance is Gods substance. I concider angels to be intelligent beings, and I would not be surprised if they were intelligent enough to design life forms.

Ah but that depends on your definition, and technically its not the same. Farmers didnt create seeds, they planted them, but lets say farmers create seeds with some experiment. Oks so they have created a new type of crop, lets just say its bright purple and 2 metres tall( we have arms and legs and organs, we would be like the seeds). So if the plants grown from those seeds could think, then why isnt the farmers there Gid?

I mean he created life from nothing, he can destory life, he can change it, he can do tiny little things like spraying the crops with pesticides, which dramatically change existance for the crops. So if your definition of a God is a creator of life, then the farmer is a god to his crops.

But i am not saying the Aliens want us to pray to them as Gods, they only used that when we were less developed as a way of slowly introducing themselves into our primitive society and laying dwon laws in way we would understand.

So since they created us and we are saying they invented the first religion on Earth, which we branched off from. They could be seen as God.

An 'Alien'-scenario is always very interesting, because it would totally destroy some 'we are so special and god make us like him' pillars of religion.

I could accept that aliens just created us for fun or research or something. I do find it unlikely however.

If aliens were actually our creators, I would treat them in the same way that I understand God. They are entities from which we can learn valuable lessons to further our own purposes.

They'd have to prove that they were not Satan deceiving us. Then they'd have to explain all the things that made me sure of God's existence. Then I would reluctantly not believe in what I do anymore, but still live the same way as a christian (be centered on others instead of self-centered.)

But that's hardly a question, it's impossible to me (that's why I didn't post here at first.)

I'd say they would have to had created the universe to be a GOD. And I don't think a GOD would need a spaceship to get to Earth.

Yep, the concept of a god requires some spiritual or supernatural element. If aliens did create us etc. etc., then we would see them as logical creators and not as gods.

Your correct that it would totally destroy some religions... actually most.
I think that Christianity would be the most destroyed and questionable.
A man was hung on a cross and killed, and three days later was seen alive and acsended into the "heavens".
There are a lot of factors that are detrimental to most religions that are over-looked. As well as a lot of things that have been found to prove certian things about some religions. The most debateable which has always been , Christianity. Hell, finding the body of Christ would be detrimental and therefore cause an uprising of supposed hypocrites.

I think that if this happened and these aliens came down, I would not accept them as a "god", but I could accept the fact that we were in essence an experiment. But whose saying that they evolved the same way we did and was actually as curious as us as humans are. I think I'm going to shut up now lol. Point being is there is still a lot of factors to take in. Nice post!

Oh dear, this is an all time low then? I could point out many lows the Christians have stooped to to make excuses for stupidities in the bible, but that would be cruel and just make you even more insecure. No one is debunking religion, its a HYPOTHETICAL ARGUMENT.

Who mentioned Christians? I sure didn't. Why do you 2 feel the need to attack Christians?

The first mention of anything Christian was the 1st post, he mentioned Jesus as a time reference.

Then Jeremysr was the first one to mention the word Christian but it was in a descriptive sense. Just read the bold text, he clearly use it as a description for himself while answering the question put forth by joey11223. He didn't use it as a means to discredit the topic.

Eh i'd just be thankful they did make me and aslong as they had a cool name like: Goa'uld, Scrin, Seraphim, Aeon, Asgard, etc. Then i'd think they were pretty cool and totally invite them round for TV and beers :content: . Though their pad would probably be way cooler, then HD HD TV :yumdumdoodledum:.

thats not what he's saying, he is saying the thought of aliens creating us is ridiculous, although itys interesting that we are quite close to making robots with working AI's, so we have made robotic life already.

and with genetic engineering, in a few thousand years we will probably be creating life of our own to study.

It is interesting tthat the Bible mentions no other worlds though, i'll grant you that. Of oucrse the main response to this is that the Bible was written for its time period...

Which means either we need the bible 2.0( which Jesus could have come and given to us in the yr 2000) or that the Bible is just to outdated to be used when argueing the case of new scientific discoveries.

Oh yeah, the bible should be updated if Aliens come... WHY THE HELL don't they update it now? It has been done at the conference of niceae... Twice if I remember. Since the bible is all true, god had time to let people edit the bible back then, but he doesn't have had the time since then? Not like ethically and in many other ways the world have Changed GREATLY now?

Aliens would be a nice bonus of time and (historical) knowledge debunking the bible and religion.

To the original question of the topic, I wouldn't accept right away. I would want proof. For all we know, it could be a practical joke on us and our 'religion'.

Actually, once humanity has the technology, I would LOVE to go around to random alien civilizations with religions and say I'm god :D

Let me just clarify a couple things.
I was not attacking anyone, or any religion. As I said, I was raised Christian, Baptist as a matter of fact. I respect teh fact that you and others are christians and I refuse to hold that against anyone.
I was trying to get a point across that our "alien creators" could destroy some religions. The biggest being Christianity.
That was the point that I was tring to get across.

When I said, "It's your hell, go burn in it.", I was referring to a conversation that I was having with my uncle, a pastor. He was criticizing me and we were arguing a few points in the Bible, Christianity vs. Wiccanism.

It was not intended to offend but was said as a joke. Because he tells me all the time that I am going to hell.
Sorry if I offended, but PLEASE be sure that it was unintentional.

I bet if the country was mostly Muslim you would be saying the same stuff about Muslims. What does that have to do with my outburst. At the time I was reading the thread I just found it funny that someone would use one fictitious scenario and another scenorio they deem fictitious in the same scenario. To me it was like was like trying to prove warp speed was faster than slipstream, and I burst out laughing and almost fell in the floor.^)

I believe that&#39;s in Revelation and maybe Isaiah, which kinda ruins your point because it&#39;s so hard to be sure what those books are talking about. On the other hand, if the angels and demons are aliens, they are still around (according to the Bible). After reading this thread, I would probably decide the aliens were demons and... exorcise them or something. Or maybe hide and let someone else worry about it.

Well, I was simply stating that there is mention of other worlds or civilizations in the bible.
A lot of the bible is contradictory and it&#39;s hard to be sure what they&#39;re talking about, but then I guess if I were to speak to a guy from 2000 years ago, he&#39;d also be hard to understand. And seeing as though they&#39;re the people that wrote the damn thing, it&#39;s got to be expected.

The bible does have a lot of things that can be explained as aliens.
Seriously think about it.
In Exodus alone, there are a lot of things that can be discribed as alien intervention rather than devine intervention. Just to name a few:

• 1. The parting of the Red Sea.
  2. "I will lead you by a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night".
  3. The food that was rained down upon them in their travels.
  4. Moses&#39; traveling up the mountain to recieve the Ten Commandments.
  5. The burning bush.

Literally in the bible there are HUNDREDS of things that can be described as alien intervention. I am not saying that I believe that lol. I am just making my point. These things can also transfer over to Wiccanism as well if you&#39;d like. A couple that are not in Exodus (forgive me, it&#39;s been forever since I blew the dust off the cover) are:

• 1. Elijah being carried away by "chariots of fire".
  2. Paul on the road to Damascus (seeing the light).
  3. The destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah
  4. Jacob&#39;s Ladder
  5. Giants ie. David and Goliath, Joshua and the battle of Jericho, The "Promised Land"

And just to remind you, I was raised Christian... and right now and am at a transitional point in religion.

Talon, all those things were done by God, according to the bible. Or did you mean that god doesn&#39;t exist, but all the inspiration for the bible came from people seeing aliens? Hmm, that is an interesting Idea.

However, quite unlikely, I don&#39;t see more imagination in the bible then I see in the Qu&#39;ran, the book of the Mormons, the Roman religion, the Norse religion, the Hindu religion, ect, ect. I find it highly unlikely that all those things were caused by (seeing) aliens.

And you are right. It is highly unlikely, but what if this were to happen. It is a hypothetical situation.
All the points I made would be classic examples of alien intervention. That is the point I am trying to make. I haven&#39;t studied out any other religious books, and you most likely are corrects saying that there is no more imagination in other books. I just wanted to make a couple points there.

In most religions if not all there is some sort of "divine intervention". If aliens were to say that they were in essence our creators, it would create a mass uprising of religious people to denounce their faith as well as make others stronger in it. It would be detrimental to a lot of believers of multiple religions. Because I was raised Christian, I know the Bible the best. That&#39;s why I was using it for an example. So I didn&#39;t mean just Christianity, but all religions will/could become questionable.

All religions are already questionable. Hense this message board. Instances of divine intervention have always been the sources of the most controversy.

To Neruo: You say that alien intervention is unlikely. As far as probability is concerned, don&#39;t you believe that the intervention of an undetectable, sentient, diety as or more unlikely?

I&#39;ve thought about the possibility that we may have been seeded.

But then I would go on to ask - what created them? Aliens still wouldn&#39;t explain the origin of the universe.

well they could have been created by true natural evolution.

Like is said before, lets say in 2000 years we can create life and manipulate it, think "Spore" ppl&#33;( Gonna be a really fun game i think :content: ). So they might have evolved naturally, but when they got the technology they had a little fun with Earth.

I&#39;m sure most religions would maintain that their version of the universal creator was the origin of the aliens, and therefore, humans.

Well joey, that would then put the aliens where the humans were, in terms of where we stood in relation to the universal creator.

I think Merlin pretty much answered it - most religions would not change their viewpoint because there is still the "how was the universe created" question.

the universal creator is the big bang, which i still believe has always been, just as God supposidly has been.

Inside stars are all of the elements, carbon, silicon, oxygen, etc, plus from biological elements as well.
Stars die/explode, spreads out these elements far and wide
Elements join together, with the metallic cores of the stars( iron), and other things and form large balls of mass. They are eventually pulled in the gravity of other stars into an orbit.
Then you have millions of years of fragments of crap hitting eachother and planets colliding until there are the main ones left
Then you get those biological elements froming simple lifeforms in the right conditions
Then you get us
Then after billions of years the Universe has expanded and used all the mass and energy from the big bang( i believe a black hole is in the centre of the Universe, like how there are ment to be in the middle of galaxies when they are forming).
It starts to collapse on its self
Everything is now been pushed into one tiny space and Boom it starts again.

But yes some would say God created those aliens, but they told us the Gods we follow were made by them, and so it would still cause uproar is it would mean all holy books were originally based by them, not God.

Many religious officials state that holy books were written by men &#39;inspired by God.&#39; If confronted with aliens, the same people would probably just add aliens as another middleman between God&#39;s intent and their holy book.

Yes, I might say that is less unlikely. However it kind of is a dark-zone, since if the undetectable, sentient, diety, thus a metaphysical one, would exist it would be outside of our possibility to really calculate.

Like it is impossible to calculate the chance that we all live in the matrix, or that we all are dreaming Xworks from the planet skzowj.

However, the Christians/Muslim/Theist god is quite unlikely, I would say with quite some certainty.
