Explain here why you are fanatically attatched to the illogical idea of an omnipotent deity. I really would like to know |

Try going for the crotch. It's harder to evade. |

...WOW... I wasn't talking behind your back, ROFL. I can't. It is impossible. I used you as an example. So i DID speak my mind. Publicly, tho. |

Hey Seismosaur's back, the flame wars can resume:p. Anyway I'll try to answer your question. Most of these people you describe have either grown up with the beliefs and can't really imagine it being another way since they have believed it so long, or their lives have been changed through religion and so they associate it with good, positive things. Also I'd point out that although there is not scientific proof for a god, I don't think the idea is illogical. I'm curious if anyone has read books that try to prove god and what the books give as reasons. I havn't read any of them and just wonder what their arguments are. |
|
Well, let me put it in perspective. Which would be more rational to believe in this scenario: |
|
I agree, I just meant that it is not illogical that there could be a higher power out there that made the universe, laws of nature, whatever. It doesn't have to be a god in the biblical sense but it could be in a way that humans can't understand. Kind of an underlying power throughout the universe. It's hard to explain but there is so much out there that humans can't comprehend that I just don't think that it is illogical to believe that such a thing is out there unifying the universe. |

Come on Seis, I thought you left. This forum was just starting to get back to rational debate and away from your mindless confrontationalism. |
|
I haven't seen any rational debating in the archives of this forum. |
|
NO
This sort of thread is on par with masterbation. Its only purpose is self satisfaction and its bound to leave a mess as a result. In fact, its just down right emabarassing at this point. Just about every thing you post has to do with bashing theology, Seis. How pathetic is that? Im not defending religion, but you need to get a life and move the fuck on for christ sake, no pun intended. |

You don't want an explanation, you just want an argument. Everything is black and white to you and you want to make sure nobody gets away with thinking differently. Hell, you can't even differentiate between different religions and so latch on to the only one you can think of; christianity. There is no point here to stick to. You opened the thread with an insult and then proceeded to whine when no one would validate your insult. |
|
Ok, Xagaria, are you going to dance around the point, or answer the question? I want an explanation of why you believe it. But if you want to be a jackass, go ahead. Oh, and may i ask why all you do is insult me continually when i question your beliefs? |

I believe in God because I've had prayers answered, felt the holy spirit, and have been conviced beyond doubt of his existince. |
