A nice video that looks into why there is probably a god.

Hey guys here it is this wasnt opened for a debate i just made it as i have good reason to believe there is some kind of god and after weighting up the odds/and facts its quite hefty on the god-of-some kind side.
anyway heres a nice video that has some stuff to do with why there could be a god.

      alright, sure.

but does any of that necessarily mean or even imply:

      that God is male?

that there could have been nothing before him, like maybe other gods? energy has always existed, it says, and always is a pretty long time.

that this force must be called "God"?

that this force (or, energy, whatever) "sent his only begotten son", and we have to believe in that name or we go to hell?

that there even is an eternal hell or heaven?

      that God hates fags?

that video provides no evidence for the christian God. the video shows that there was something, some energy. so what? that is science and has nothing to do with religion. many people know this already...so why aren't they all religious christians? why are the top scientists in the world atheists? (so I read, in The God Delusion I believe. I can't say I know whether it's true or not, I haven't researched it.)

The reasoning is persuasive in some ways, not so persuasive in others, but it certainly does make out God as an amoral being, and certainly doesn't indicate that he has any particular interest in the affairs of mankind.

Ignoring that, however, there is an interesting question that it raises: If we somehow discover a scientific explanation for the Big Bang(a variant of (mem)brane-theory, perhaps), what role would God play then? As science advances understanding of the world around us, will God's role in the affairs of mankind become more and more distant as unexplained phenomena become farther and farther removed from our lives? At what point is His existence irrelevant to morality?

      This video doesn't make sense.

The entire argument rests on the idea that energy has existed forever. But then suddenly the energy was only introduced into the universe when god added it. It makes no sense to say "it existed outside of the universe" when the word universe merely refers to all that exists. What that theory actually states, anyway is that the net amount of energy/matter in the universe never changes.

      Also, the video states that:
"This energy source that was present BEFORE the universe began had to have power beyond anything we can begin to imagine, considering it had to transfer it's energy unto the TRILLIONS of stars and BILLIONS of galaxies."
Transfer it's[sic] energy to stars and galaxies? What stars and galaxies are we talking about here? Are we assuming they were there since the start or something? That somehow we had energy-less stars? Whoops, better go back and rewrite a few physics books.

It doesn't even say how this complex, sentient mind created itself and where it got its energy. Donk!

Weak argument & needs work. try again.
Ignoring the view that whether or not God exists is unknown or unknowable.

What is the expected audience an atheists? science lovers?

I would not simply go from being an atheist to being a believer with this one.

Thus disagreement with this logic makes me stubborn, unreasonable, and I don't want to believe in the possible existence of a God
      Atheists score 1

At very least make me feel personal guilt and shame for not agreeing, for being a non-believer

You said that there is complexity order and design everywhere. But I can't see it. Can you explain this order, design and so called complexity in words rather than just showing pictures you don't know much about? The same thing with intelligence and other big words you used. There is nothing logical about your video, sorry.

I think that the logic or lack of comes with Christians and believers founding there opinions on faith. I think it made sence. Where did this gallaxy come from when there was nothing there befor. I am on the line between believing and wanting proof. But I have come to the realization that no one will know the absolute truth till we die and see for ourselves!

We are the universe. There was nothing before the "universe" because it is all we know. The same way you can't convince some psycho murderer that killing is wrong, for him good or bad don't exist, he just can't see it. And it's the same with us.
We are (probably) a normal part of this universe and there is nothing beyond its boarders because we are it. If the theory of souls and other stuff like that is correct, then that's another story. But I don't believe in that sort of things. If there is a god, then he is a god because he is the objective observer, he is not a part of this universe.
The same way you could say for LDing. We become lucid in a dream because we can see the "reality" where before we saw nothing. The same way we now see a nothingness from this "new dream" called reality. I always liked that feeling of enlightenment when I got lucid when I started LDing. For a second it felt like I've got it all figured out.

I like the way this guy uses scientific terms to make his argument look credible. And how would we be stubborn to not believe in such a thing, i think it would be naive to walk into a trap of believing something like that.

It isnt my video so dont assume it was, im not sorry for disagreeing with you but i do take the point i just said it was a nice video that raises some point nothing can have existed forever therefore there is somthing that happened but what happened? whatever happend it did and denying it doesnt get you anywhere what if there is a so called god?
who the hell mentioned christianity and why?? this is about god not christianity or even Islam, stop tromping on a particular faith if your atheist you dont beleve in god full stop not just the christian one-all this coming from somone who ahsnt decided what he thinks yet.
i would NEVER dare to call my self atheist if i had to tell somone that is feel like an idiot because id be lieing throught my teeth, as i nor you or anyone else on this board or even on this planet even has the slightest clue about what started the known universe.
simply ask yourself this, what happens when we get to the end of the universe, NOTHING is capable of going on forever, maybe the universe is a circle? whats outside the circle? nothing? how do you know?? who told you so??
and just because the definiton of universe meens "everything that exists" meens that there couldnt possibly be somthing outside of it? wtf???
Try and stop using words to there full definition and start thinking "outside the box" as one might say, The very fact your breathing right now is a huge HUGE coincidence (spelling anyone?)
All of this from somone who doesnt defend or justify just researches i wouldnt bother wasting my life trying to prove somthing wrong that i havent actually got the slightest clue about-so why the hell should you??- on another level considering the entire "universe's" size and you have the balls to preach you know there isnt a god? what the hell do you know?
the fact is because a dictionary defines things with words it doesnt meen anything just cause the word we use "universe" how the hell will that effect what is in existance and where it ends/stops if theres a god/if there isnt.
if there isnt a god then were all in big fucking trouble, as the thought of nothingness when your on death row frightens the hell out of you because your close to it.
I would push any decided atheiest and ive met a few now usually about 13 trying to rebel against the thought of anything they can hoping to cause shock- not that you guys are and im up against you all remember a 17 year old against most of the users here are atheiest.
But i simply refuse to decide anything until i know everything which i will never and nor will anyone else so therefore the simple thing i will keep doing is throw around idea's till i hit the pillow on my deathbed and find the fuck out for myself-maybe lifes like a circle you die your reborn? i have my doubts in heaven but im extremely open and im even defending somthing-religion/god-againsts people even thought im not at all on either ends.

or maybe what you said was way too stupid for a serious reply? whatever, you're not coming back to the thread anyway. and that, by the way, is a great way to be "extremely open".

I love how the only evidence they have for the "fact" that the universe had to have a beginning was "because Steven Hawking said so"
