The largest increase in attendance to church in the last fifty years came immediately following the release of The Exorcist. Fear drives people to irrational beliefs such as if they go to a building and pray ones a week that they will go to a magical place called heaven and if they don't they are forever damned to be burned. Now time for a little personal story from years past.

I copied this from another thread, because I'm too lazy and tired to type this short story.

Sounds stupid, but at 8, I was terrified. I ended up walking out of there before he was done in tears, and some counselor person came and was saying, "Hey, don't let that scare you, you just need to give your life to Jesus."

I suppose it's because to get into heaven you need faith in Jesus Christ as your Saviour, it is not judged by deeds like it was back in my day! Back in the olde days you killed someone, ya damn well you were you were going! Imirite!
