On the question of "Does a God exist?", people will take a position. However, in all other contexts, these positions have no meaning.

      We are individuals, not collectives.

Hey boss..... co. Don't give up on arguing for theism. Someone needs to do it, right? Just as long as we're reasonable about it, there should be no reason for any atheists to be mad. After all, if they post in a religion/spirituality thread... they're totally asking for a fight. Amirite?

There's no reason to put yourself down. It is interesting to look far into why God is doubted rather than believed, because the reasons to believe in God are obvious.

Actually, when God is revealed, He is nameless. Awe...

      Life/Reality can only express Him...

For he is loooooooong and wise.

Indeed, may you grow long and windy, so you can accept the lengthy wisdom of Longcat.

The only deity that exists is the one a man believes in.

If you believe in God, then God exists in you.

If another believes in Zeus, then Zeus exists in him.

If another believes in no god, then he has no god.

I know theists can seem like pretty stupid people to atheists...especially ones who denounce atheists as sinners who are all going to hell and such.

On the other hand, I also know that atheists are so desperate to get back at the theists who are mocking them that they appear equally stupid, saying disparaging things about theists who have in fact never done anything to them.

It all turns into a pointless bitch-slap fest, and in the long run, theists and atheists both

So basically, whoever has to put the opposing force down in order to make their point makes retards look like 4.0 students.

So sayeth the Secret True Doctrine of Longcat.

Also, yeah. Lot of atheists here. Lot of arguments too. That will happen when a lot of views are represented. If you make reasoned arguments I'll try my best to judge them on their merits. I respect Christians who post here because this board seems to be weighted towards atheism. But this thread is just complaining.

I'd be interested in knowing why this board has lots of atheists, when the rest of the world isn't as similer, not even in the countries we all come from (I'm atheist too, well a bit agnostic in some things). Has their been a thread about this?

Perhaps athiests/agnostics/etc tend to be more open to lucid dreaming? Less dogma and general open-mindedness which is more conducive for lucid dreaming (or at least getting introduced to the idea)?

I dunno... I think it may be more dependent on the person, and not the philosophy/religious beliefs/etc....

I thought that same thing, I mean most people when you show them lucid dreaming don't really see it in the right light, and never end of practicing it, it does seem like a kind of degrading statement towards religious people, but so does the I.Q. religious correlation.

I think the I.Q. study doesn't really take into account every aspect of the religion to intelligence correlation, however, you can look into studies amongst scientists and people with higher education levels, and you will see a significant trend shifting away from the usual religious ideas to more scientific ones. Religious belief itself may not be completely absent, but things do become more skewed towards non-interventionist deities (example, Deism) and onto agnostics and atheists.

Again, I still think it is down to the person. People may or may not be interested in dreaming, regardless of belief, and this in itself may lend more to the fact of whether someone is more open to lucid dreaming or not. I mean, I myself have always had pretty vivid dreams and they always interested me a lot, so lucid dreaming was really just the next step. I don't think it would have mattered if I was religious or not.

Thinking of the people I know, I'd say there's just about the same ratio of religious to non-religious people on this forum. But then, I go to university. I think young people are often less likely to be spiritual, and when they are they are less likely to choose Christianity.

How people can actually say they KNOW there is a god or not is a mystery. We're people, we don't know what the fucks going on on planet Earth let alone in the heavens. People just can't accept that the truth is unimaginable.

I don't claim to "know" there is a God. I "believe" there is a God, but I don't for sure know anything. That's why I have faith. Faith enables me to bieleve unimaginable things.
