      How to raise the dead

      http://www.etpv.org/1998/hrd.html

Here is an excerpt from the site:

According to the Swedish Christian paper Magazinet the Pakistani/Swedish evangelist Christopher Alam visited Word of Life, Uppsala last week and told following incredible story from Myanmar (Burma). A monk had been sick and died but before the cremation the man resurrected and begun to witness about a vison from heaven and hell.
He says: Then I died I met a man in white clothes and it was Jesus. He showed me the heaven and the hell.
The first man I saw in hell was Buddha. Jesus took the monk to the side and said: I am sending you to your own people and you shall tell them that they must repent and turn away from their sins and turn to me, I am the only way to God. Time is short, I soon will return to earth.
After this the monk has become very bold, the authorities arrests him time after time but many over all Burma have been saved as a result of the testimony from the resurrected monk

It's about using faith and the power of Jesus to raise people from the dead; this site was sourced from a youtube Christian in response to a youtube atheist saying that no one has ever been risen from the dead.

I find it quite interesting that people actually believe this stuff.

A monk said he saw Buddha, that gives away the falseness of the story right there.

      OMG WTF Zombie Monk!

You know why Jesus came back, really?

To strike revenge against the assholes that fucked with him, like some sort of horror movie.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

So the story used to convert more people to Christianity was actually told by a Christian Evangelist, who claimed to have heard the monk say this? Fantastic.

I'd consider people that die on an operating table and then brought back to life, rising from the dead.

      EAT THAT!

It reads more like a near death experience to me. Unless he was like dead for a day. Then it would be more of a resurection...

Agreed...kind of funny, Buddha lives in hell? the ironic thing about that being true, is he would probably be perfectly content there anyway right?

I'm interested as to how, in ALL of hell, that gigantic expansive place that would have to house billions of souls, he saw Buddha. It is like saying you went to hell and you saw your Uncle Steve....

And how would you recognize buddha? From the fat man statues?!?

Did the guy say, "Hi, I'm buddha and I've been damned."

Geeze, if I was in hell I'd tell people I was like St. Augustine just to screw with them.

Buddha was extremely deformed and had something like "32 signs" of greatness or something.

One of them was like webbed feet, another was like a patch of hair inbetween his eye brows (not a unibrow but like a regular brow with a dot inbetween. _._ )

He was so deformed in fact that I would have to assume you could tell it was him if you just looked at him.

      /insert wiki

Although the Buddha was not represented in human form until around the 1st century CE (see Buddhist art), the Physical characteristics of the Buddha are described in one of the central texts of the traditional Pali canon, the Digha Nikaya, in the discourse titled "Sutra of the Marks" (Pali: Lakkhana Sutta) (D.iii.142ff.).

These characteristics comprise 32 signs, "The 32 signs of a Great Man" (Pali: Lakkhana Mahapurisa 32), and were supplemented by another 80 Secondary Characteristics (Pali:Anubyanjana). These traits are said to have defined the appearance of the historical Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama and have been used symbolically in many of his representations.

Thanks Sandform. That clears that up.

      Here is my beef...
Were the 32 signs of a great man prophesied prior Sidharta or after/during his teaching?

I'm guesing during, which would be awfully convenient to allow for a sel-fullfilling/pre-fulfilled prophecy that blatantley

I wouldn't know, I "think," though I'm not sure, that the Bhudda was deformed, and then people started saying, well hey he isn't a freak, he is BRANDED. Afterwards they started saying oh, well that's one sign, ooop there goes another sign.

You would have to ask a theologian or a historian.

I'm surprised someone actually believed they were refuting an atheist with a load of bullshit like that. As if he'd believe that with his cold logic let alone the bible.

Not just in America, though. I believe they also make him fat in most cultures including those countries that it is deeply rooted in.

I believe that everyone is entitled to make their own opinion about life, death, existance, right and wrong, as long as they don't try and force their belief on other people so much to make them believe the same, by all means preach but no religion should have a name, have any rules and nor should the believers be forced into all believing the same rules. If you think there is a god, then that's fine, just don't go adapting every single bullshit rule that things like Christianity, Hinduism, Sihkism and Islam have.

Nobody in this world is owned...
      (except him)

...so why should religious people all conform to one belief and be lead into such bullshit like this?!
I am sending you to your own people and you shall tell them that they must repent and turn away from their sins and turn to me, I am the only way to God. Time is short, I soon will return to earth.
No one should follow anyone, everyone should make their own decision and not be scared into believing someone else.

      Pfft. Noobs.
Jesus' street cred has been shit all over ever since he's been dead with people coming up with crap about him so that they can gain popularity and followers.

      EDIT: also...
Time is short, I soon will return to earth.
how would he know that?! he's only ever been brought back to life once! He's hardly an uberpro of the ressurection world is he?

Apart from the terrible English making it sound oh-so credible, how would a monk even know about christianity?
Yes I know it has a capital C don't flame me for bad English I just don't think it deserves a capital letter.
