      Scientology

First off, lets start out with what Scientology is:
The belief that an alien named Xenu came to the Earth 75 million years ago and dumped frozen space aliens into earth's volcano's which resulted in thetan alien souls that seek out to plague mankind forever.

      ..yeah, makes sense, right?

Scientology is a joke for a religion, it is a cult with a main goal being to extract as much money from the members as they can, in any ways possible. Now, I fully support what Anonymous is doing to Scientology, being friends with some members myself.

Scientology was created by a science fiction writer, 'nuff said. Since 2/10/08 (the day of the massive world-wide anonymous protest at churches of scientology) youtube has been systematically removing videos that would hit the top rated videos that had anything to do with anti-scientology, yet they would keep their ad about it on the pages. This is a huge violation of freedom of speech, and it has to be stopped.

My fingers are hurting now so when i can think of more stuff to add to this, I will post it.

Why can't you respect other peoples religion? just because you don't believe it, you can't totally dismiss anything without giving them their chance to convince you they are right. Otherwise you are being onsided, and that isn't fair. If you don't give them a chance, then you are just afraid of chainging your mind. If you are sure that it is fake and stupid, just let them tell you. If they are wrong, it will make itself clear.

Sorry if I sound like an asshole

Because at some point you have to realise that we should draw a line for what's actually respectable to believe in, and that there is something called going too far, and something called common sense And Scientology crossed that line ^^ If someone came and told me about this new religion that believed cows created the universe, well, I wouldn't respect them either, I would just take them for a bunch of lunatics

Sorry if it seemed like it was directed at you, but it wasn't Was just an overall opinion. I mean come on, it comes from a science fiction writer! And it sounds as dumb as anything. All at the same time!

Sometimes I fear for our future when people actually start to buy in on crap like this Can't be a good sign.

      It ISN'T A religion.
It is a CULT with the only goal as to take all of the money they can get from the believers. People have died because of it.

And it's not the fact that it sounds ridiculous that I dislike it for, it is the fact that it's and excuse for a religion where your "faith" is measured by how much money you can give them.

Meh, I gave the website a few minutes of my day. And I realized it would make a kick ass book. But not a religion. And anyone whe believes in that has the right, but they need to accept that is generally not going to be accepted. And that there will be drug testings.

Christans died because of their religion. Jews died because of their religion. Does that make them less of a religion? No, of corse not! God, don't get me started on dying because of your religion. And they are all looking for money, sometimes for charitable purposes, sometimes not. And I guess you could call dreaming a cult. There will always be people who fear what they din't know and tag it with the name "cult" and cause mass panic. Let them believe. Whats it matter to you?

"Cult" is just a label that's used to shield "religions" from criticism. The concept is made up. Christianity started as a Jewish cult and remains a cult today.

Religions is defined by service to and worship of a god. Scientology does not have god or being of worship.

All religions in the world offer their holy scripture for free. Scientology not only makes their followers pay to read their "holy scriptures" one chapter at a time, but members must pay increasingly vast sums of money to read the following chapters.

The Church of Scientology aggressively harasses its critics into silence and exploits the trust of its members. That is defined as cult behavior. Consider the case of the Cult Awareness Network. After forcing this organization into bankrupcy, the Church of Scientology bought it out. What a convienient way to silence legitimate criticism. What other "religion" would ever be allowed to get away with that?

Scientology is not a religion. It is a scam and a cult. They make the claim to be a religion so that they can recieve tax exempt status and thus keep more money for themselves, with which they use to further harass, abuse and propagate their "religion."

That is only one definition of religion. There are many. Not all religions worship a God or singular being. Even certain christian groups don't.

A lot of religions guilt trip their parishoners into donating. It may not seem like this, but God loves you regardless of weather or not you give money. And at least in the catholic church they ask for way to much money. . Scientologists are just up front about taking your money.

I'm not saying that scientology is good, just that pretty much all major religions are similar to cults. I also think that it is very possible to find spirituality through a cult. It's definetly not the best way though.

157 is a prime number. The next prime is 163 and the previous prime is 151, which with 157 form a sexy prime triplet. Taking the arithmetic mean of those primes yields 157, thus it is a balanced prime.

I don't know of any Christian denomination that doesn't require the worshiping of (a) God. The only religions I do know that you don't have to worship a god is Theravada Buddhism and Jainism.

I'm not sure about this, but I think there are smaller christian groups that don't require you to take on specific beliefs, only follow the message of christ. Maybe there aren't anymore and I just read about it in some kind of history thing. Actually I think thats what my freinds church did. I think they just called it a christian church and said as long as you follow christ and call yourself a christian you could go there. But I'm not an expert on this stuff.

My main point is that not all christians believe in a singular being that controls or "created" the universe. Some understand that God is everything.

And Christianity puts their faith in a giant sky magic man and stories filled with dragons and obviously nonexistent mythological beings.

They aren't any righter than any other religion. They do take part in a lot of destructive activities though.

In their private navy they force their women to have abortions.
They track down their criticizers and destroy their homes, and plant evidence for crimes on them. (They have a name for it, "Free Game")
They separate friends and families under their Disconnection Policy.
They require members to pay to receive teaching, yet they are still tax exempt in the US.
They put children through inhumane scanning processes.
They disallow prescribed medication, this has led to the death and suicide of many of their church members.
They require over half a million dollars and 8 years of life to get to the last OT level.

I'm sure there are more, but I don't have time to go researching right now.
I live in your philosophy and religion forums.

You completely miss the point of freedom of speech. Youtube is a private entity. They host videos (for free), at thier discresion. Freedom of speech does not require anyone to offer anyone any services for free. If you write a letter to a (private) newspaper, and it fails to appear in the editorial section, it is not a "violation of freedom of speech", and nor is this.

It's good to know though that there are a lot of ppl out there who do
manage to keep their protest videos against Scientology up and running
in youtube. Ive followed quite a lot of these vids. There is nothing I hate
      more then these Scientology idiots!!
Here is a video spoof of Tom Cruise's
leaked Scientology tape done by Jerry O'Connell that I especially love! The
next one is another spoof from another actor but this guy really has Tom nailed
down!! They are both hilarious!! There are a lot of more serious videos out
there as well against Scientology but these ones are both quite funny
      though!!

Here is part of the real tape from Tom Cruise that was leaked onto youtube
and has been repeatedly removed by youtube but now its been left in for
a while now! To me he's an ass! No one understands what the hell he's
      trying to say!
