Just think about this for a minute, out of all possible life forms on this planet, all the insects, animals, birds, we where born human, doesn't that make you feel really lucky.
No. That doesn't make any sense. "I" was born human because "I" am human right now. If "I" was a snake, "I" would still exist as a human.
This makes so little sense that I'm at a loss for words.
So I made this image to explain my point.

it's not like your in a factory and your consciousness is placed into any animal, we are the only animal that has true sentience as there's only one life form your consciousness can be born into( if you really believe thats how it works), a human.
If that's your attitude though why are you so positive, why not. " crap man why did i have to be born into a sucky human body, why couldn't i be born as part of an incredibly advanced race which has mastered interstellar travel, moves things with their minds, has used genetic engineering to remove any flaws in themselves and so have reached relative perfection!"
He does have a point tho, compare the human race to all other species in known existence, and we are like some sort of gods.
Isn't it weird how human evolution is on a completely other level than any other animal? What happened that humans suddenly started to evolve so fast and left all the other animal species light years behind? Will the other species ever catch up? Doesn't seem like it. Seems more like evolution stopped for them. So what's going on? How do you explain this huge gap between humans and all other life forms on earth? Any theories?
One amusing theory is that a certain group of monkeys started to eat shrooms and thats how humans evolved from that. Adam and Eve eating the forbidden fruit, being cast out of the Garden of Eden would be a metaphor for this. The shrooms creating the dualistic mind, the ability to experience good and evil, to love and hate.. before as animals, as monkeys we couldn't make a difference. When you see humans laughing isn't it like they are tripping on shrooms? Did you ever see a monkey or a dog laughing?
Any better theories? :D
meh i wonder if dolphins have stopped, their very bright......too smart in my opinion...:?::eek:
Yeah they are very intelligent alright, but what do they do with their smartness? Catch fish. That's it. Nothing more.. they swim around all day long, eat fish, swim a little bit more, and thats how their day goes by. And those are supposed to be one of the most intelligent animals on earth?
what else can they do? They have no hands to grasp and so they can not build. They play with each other, beat up sharks cos dey is gangsta...
Lol indeed good point, but how about monkeys? They do have hands to grasp on to stuff, and they aren't doing anything with it except for throwing poop at each other and swinging around in trees.
I think it's a valid point, and there's some possible answers;
1. Possibly chance, there are a huge number of humans on the planet now, largely because of what makes us special.
2. Possibly what makes us special is required for us to be conscious; perhaps all conscious lifeforms quickly become 'special' because of the gifts you have if you have consciousness compared to animals which presumably (this is the axiom) do not, so any life form you observe yourself being must be special.
But yeah it's something I've thought about and that's my answer.
Fuck you ImageShack.

That's awesome Serkat :D
The puddle.
Yes I do feel specail but could care less because if I were a dog or unicorn I would feel specail in that body too.
Bah. You people and "special." That is a human-created term. The only reason we could feel special for being human is because we are human. If we were any other animal or life form, the thought wouldn't have to cross our minds.
And evolution hasn't "stopped" for any species. We've evolved differently, sure, but just because we are of a higher intelligence doesn't mean we're better or more "special" than any other species. Think about all the species that have been around much longer than us and will probably continue to thrive when we're long gone. I think cockroaches, in the grand evolutionary scheme, are more special than humans. :P
OK, but flying cockroaches are specialer than normal ones.
True..And flying pigs are gods.
You must have some serious self esteem issues claiming cockroaches are more special than you. I really don't see why some of you guys insist on denying the infinite potential of human beings which each of us possesses. Humans are beyond survival and have taken evolution into their own hands. We can recreate the whole universe inside our minds, lucid dreaming should already have convinced you that we are special..
