You visit the future and your religion no longer exists, how do you react?
Random hypothetical question for those with a faith.
Let's say you step through a time machine to 5000 years in the future(we're assuming mankind is still going strong and Earth is still a main colony.)
I'll use Christianity as an example but just use the main parts of your religion in it's place if your not Christian.
So you find out no one is Christian. You receive puzzled faces when you enquire about it, it seems no one knows anything about this ancient belief system, no one knows of this Jesus character. A small number of people who study ancient history have information about it but they just study it as an interesting stage in their ancestors way of life, it's treated in the same way as we treat the ancient Egyptian belief system or the Norse Gods. Christians don't accept them as correct at all and most just look back at it with a fascination of how humans thousands of years ago used to think.
Now I'm not necessarily saying the Earth is entirely Atheist in 5000 years, but either they are OR they have a belief system which is so incompatible with Christianity there's no point trying to dig up similarities.
So, how do you react? Does this make you doubt your faith? It would seem God has not intervened to make sure your true faith still exists. Or do you think all these people are doomed to a negative afterlife and your faith is still the one true faith?
Just interested in what you'd think about the situation.
