seriously, you're being a forum Nazi. why is it such a big deal? the Islam religion is very closely related to the main subject of the thread. get over it, ok?
It is disrespectful to present images of Muhammad because Islam says not to do it? Who wants to go down the really long list of all of the other things Islam says not to do? Put a blanket over your girlfriend's head and beat her ass while you're at it.
Personally, I agree that you should be able to draw whatever you like. Why should you care if it pisses off a few deranged Muslims. The only thing I would say is that I would question the intelligence of anybody who intentionally offended the Islamic community in person, because within the community are some very dangerous, very scary fuckers.
That's part of what worries me about British foreign policy. I don't want to piss crazy Muslims off because I don't want them bombing my home.
It's still an Islamic belief that women should cover their heads, and many Muslims think women are supposed to dress like this...

That's not entirely true. If I'm gonna be honest I haven't read the Qu'ran fully, but my understanding of it is that Islam sprung up in the Middle East at a time when cultural attitudes to women were very discriminatory and Islam was the vehicle that transported those attitudes across the globe; despite the fact that Islam itself does not explicitly state that women should dress in such a manner.
Nice artwork nerve, gave me a good chuckle.
I'm a Christian (*puts on flamesuit*) and I recognize that I cannot force my beliefs on others. In either case, I'm too apathetic to do so. I sure as Hell do not think these muslims can force their beliefs on me.
Wouldn't this also fit in the Artist's Corner?

What is underlined is not the equivalent of the text that is not underlined. Many Muslim's think that it is appropriate to cover the hair (as opposed to the entire head, that came with extremist movements) as did the Hebrew folk that preceded them. The headscarf was not a Muslim invention. That's why I'm stressing that it is cultural. Nuns cover their hair too. It's not coincidental. Furthermore if it is not in the doctrine of Islam (the Quran) it is not an Islamic belief.
A belief has to be based directly on words in the Koran to be an Islamic belief? If a large percentage of Muslims believe it for Muslim reasons, it is an Islamic belief. As far as I know, the majority of Muslim women cover their heads because they think Allah wants them to. That makes it an Islamic belief. Also, it is apparently stated directly by the Koran that women are to cover their heads any way.

There's an implicit premise that the woman is wearing a headscarf to begin with, but it's the only verse that mentions it without explicitly instructing that the woman wear one at all.Quote:
And say to the believing women......that they should draw their head-coverings over the neck opening (of their dresses) , and not display their ornaments except to their husbands, their fathers.....(etc)
Nevertheless I can see where you're coming from. The original bible did not claim that Jesus was ever the son of God, though it is considered a modern Christian belief. I suppose it should just be clear that for a Muslim woman to not wear a headscarf does not make her any less Muslim. I think that there's another verse in the Quran that states that the Quran is complete, so that to add on these extra rules to the system of believes (and to treat their disregard as being sinful) is somewhat contradictory to the verse if it was never a rule in the Quran anyways. Curious. I don't know the verse, but I'm certain that I had read the line or some variant of it.
Good one. :rolllaugh::rolllaugh:

As the make of this thread I think I get final word on what is and is not on topic. Discussion of Islam are completely within the realm of this thread. Actually, I'd rather we talk about ways to organize mass dispersion of Muhammad drawings through outt major cities in America and Europe... but this is OK too because I know jack-shit about Islam and would rather learn about it this way.
Also, I fucking lol'd at O's pics.
And Geoff, especially the mosques.
how come there's no Draw Mohammad Day thread? at least I don't see one, and it's today. here, as promised by candiappl:Spoiler for Fatwas "R" Us:
her idea, and she did most of the work. I think the "Help Wanted" sign was my idea (fits perfect with the other one) and I sketched the fugly camels and she added detail to them. we were going to colour it but it's on copy paper and got soggy somehow so we couldn't.
Happy Draw Muhammad Day :)
oh yeah, and I thought this one was pretty funny:Spoiler for Lady Mugaga:

Oh God, it cannot be unseen!!! Why is it so realistic?! :lolxtreme:
she said she "reff'd the fuck" out of it. and she's a good artist in general. I love it.
I don't see much of a problem, with drawing Mohammed and in south park it was quite harmless.
Although I don't really see a point in pushing anything.
Off Topic, I guess:

How dare you.
I love how religion bashing is ok, but call homosexuality abnormal and you need to defend yourself from a wannabe-libertarian onslaught. Fine by me :P
It's all about the arguments. We're fans of science and reason here.Quote:
