The 30 Days Newbie Immersion Technique (IILD)
Immersion Induced Lucid Dream
If you're reading this you are one of two people:
1) You are a newbie looking for an easy way to sink into lucid dreaming.
2) You are curious at my tutorial but ultimately will pass on it.
Hey, I'm Jason. I've been a member of DV and attempting to gain my first lucid moment for about two months now. I haven't succeeded. But I have learned a lot and I have honed my dream recall to much more than it has ever been.
So why am I making a tutorial if I've never had success? Well, to put it plainly, it's all part of my plan to attain lucidity. You see: The plan that I've come up with is called the Newbie Immersion Technique. The main goal of this technique is to have you thinking about lucid dreaming so often that it becomes cached in your "daily residue"* From there you will, almost subconsciously, dream about lucidity and thus make your likelihood of lucidity increase dramatically.
"Daily Residue" is exactly what it sounds. It's a collection of all the things that are on your mind throughout the day, week, and month. These things always find a way to incorporate themselves into your dreams. Say you are worried about graduating in a month and it's constantly on your mind... Well, odds are you will dream about it sooner than later.
With that said: This technique isn't a "quick" one. You won't, if it works at all, be able to lucid tomorrow night. You have to be able to dedicate a bit of time and patience as well as positive energy towards this technique if you want it to work. So without further ado... The technique:
Quote:
1. Perform authentic reality checks as soon as you think of doing it. No matter how often that is. Be sure they are authentic, though. A rote based RC will be of no benefit.
2. Every-time you enter a building you will perform your mantra: "if I am dreaming right now, I will become lucid." and then an authentic reality check. The mantra wording is up to you. The reason we are doing this is not in hopes of "entering a building" and repeating your mantra in a dream... It's more about bringing your mind and thoughts consistently back to dreaming.
3. Get a solid eight hours of sleep per night. Anytime you wake up write down the last thing you remember in full detail. Don't skim the details because...
4. Laziness will get you nowhere.
5. Before going to sleep every night envision what you want to dream about and then turn that into a mantra. For example: "Tonight, while I'm dreaming, I will see Sasuke from Naturo. When I do: I will become lucid." Repeat that for a good 10 minutes or so (your mantra can be ANYTHING. It's all about creating a routine, not strictly about the words) and then move on to the next step.
6. Perform number based WILD. Pick a number to count to (the higher the better.) and do it. If you mess up then go back to where you messed up or just start over. Once you reach that number you should perform a reality check. If you succeeded you should be able to immediately reap the benefits of lucidity! Do this up to five times and if you have no success go ahead and just go to sleep.
7. Perform the WBTB (wake, back to bed) method. Five hours after you go to sleep wake up. Write out your dream and then perform your # based WILD.
8. Post your results in your DJ or in this thread. The point of this is to stay consistently immersed into the world of lucid dreaming. To have it always on your mind will greatly increase the chance it gets cached into your daily residue.
Lucid dreaming is all about effort, routine, and positive thinking. Don't be negative or lazy. Always be positive. If you don't have an LD tonight or have a good recall tell yourself "tomorrow, I will do great." and truly believe it. The quest to Lucid Dreaming should and does take a lot of work. But it should not be stressing. If the routine ever becomes a chore: cut back on it a little bit. The moment you quit honestly wanting it and just going through the motions... All of the effort goes down the drain with it.
There you have it folks. Within thirty days, assuming this works the way I think, I can almost promise that you'll either:
a)Experience a lucid dream.
b)Dramatically increase your dream recall.
