Post The "Inception" Technique - Experiment - all are welcome!

THE TECHNIQUE CAN BE FOUND HERE - http://www.dreamviews.com/f12/incept...d-true-104652/

Alright, so this is the first time I've tried something like this, so bear with me as I might not be very good at it. I found a technique in the Attaining Lucidity forum (link is above) and reading the thread I found that, despite its simple, placebo-like appearance, it seemed to be actually generating results. While not everyone reported having lucid dreams, many said the technique gave them much more vivid dreams than normal. So I thought, what if I had some DV members try the technique and record their results to see if it really did work?

To that end, I have created an Excel spreadsheet where you can record your activities with using the technique and the results it gives. I also ask for your gender and age, just in case there ends up being a correlation with those. Anyone who wants to participate is welcome. The spreadsheet containing an empty data table is attached to this post.

All you need to do is, every day for a week or so (do it for as many, or as few, days as you want), record on which hand you wore the bracelet described in the technique (if you wore it at all - remember, we're looking to see if wearing the bracelet yields any better results than not wearing it) and how you secured it to your wrist. Also record how many hours you slept that night. Then tell how many total dreams you remembered and how many of those were lucid. If you did a WBTB, briefly describe it (how long after you went to bed, how long you stayed up, etc).

When you think you've got enough data recorded, attach your spreadsheet to a post so I can save all the data (say in your post that you attached it, otherwise I might forget to look). When I've got enough, I'll look through it and hopefully post the results soon (though I'm a busy man, so it may take a few days to get through it all).

So... that's it. Knock yourselves out. Once again, the technique can be found here - http://www.dreamviews.com/f12/incept...d-true-104652/

Hmm... now that I think about it, this thread might have fit better in the Induction Techniques forum... but I'll let the mods decide if they want to move it or not

What version of Excel are you using (or are you using another program that can open Excel documents)? I saved it as a 97-2003 document, so you should be able to open it even if you've got an older version. Worked fine when I tried to download and open it using Excel 2010.

Assuming you first unzipped the archive and then tried to open the file inside - if not, well there's your problem

On windows, right click the file and choose "extract all", then tell it where to extract to (for simplicity's sake just use your desktop, then you can move the file wherever you want it) Once it extracts, open the Excel file it made.

On mac I can't help you, don't know much abut those. Probably command-click or whatever brings up a menu, and then pretty much the same method.

Well, that's certainly not correct. There's definitely a file in there. Try double-clicking on the zip archive to open up its contents. If there's a file in there, drag it out onto your desktop and it should extract it... or at least it does on Windows 7, though I don't see any reason why it wouldn't also do that on XP/Vista. If there's not a file, try downloading the archive again, as it may have been corrupted.

Ok, there was probably some kind of error when you downloaded it. Try DLing again and then extract.

Wow, this thread has definitely deteriorated from its original purpose

This thread seemed to die before its time... Schmitty, I think I can help you out in terms of data entry. Since no one seems to be able to get the excel sheet, use google docs, which you can access with a gmail or any other google account. Create a new document and choose "form". You can then write down different questions and there will be a space for the person's answer. When you have that done, just give people the link. Their responses will show up in a spreadsheet. Here's an example.

But anyway, it'll be interesting to see the results. I'd offer to help, but I've never had a lucid before, and I don't know how that would change things. I guess I can still try it out, though.

You, sir, are a genius and deserve an internet for this idea. I never knew Google Docs had that function. Unfortunately I can't edit the OP because it's been too long after I posted, but here you go:

      https://spreadsheets.google.com/view...THdib2RlWVE6MQ

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME ON MY FILE. USE THIS. Just fill out the form each day for as long as you want and it'll compile the data into a spreadsheet for me.

Now that things are easier, hopefully people will actually start producing results
