Propensity to lucid dream runs in families research??

Hi,

Ive been speaking to my sister, and found out, that like me, she lucid dreams...
... But a friend I know, who has a sibling, I also became freinds with (via them...),
both 'think im crazy' when I mention lucid dreaming, because they both never have had them..

My theory is, that as families have the most similar DNA, and brain wiring, will be determined to some extent by genetics (not getting into the genetics vs environment debate on brain wiring!!) .. I would expect Lucid dreamers and non lucid dreamers to be clustered by family groups/siblings etc..

Anyone know of any formal research to prove/disprove my theory??

Some people seem to have more of a knack for lucid dreaming or vivid dreams, so there's definitely an argument there for genetic predisposition. However, based on the huge benefits of mind training, such as lucidity techniques and meditation, I wouldn't rule out there being a larger effect from the environment - which may still come from our parents; raising us to be more mindful and aware or whatever.

Everyone is able to lucid dream... so i don't think that this has much to do with it.

I think it's all about how aware someone is during the day... if they are more aware, they'll have more chance to lucid dream even just randomly.

I had lucids in early age, like when i was 6 years old, but i don't know of anyone from my family who ever had them.

Everyone can play sport, doesn't mean some people aren't more genetically predisposed to be good at it.

I thought that he meant it a way that some people are able to lucid dream and some are totally not.

Ahh, yes I can see now that that may be what he meant.

Ok.. Maybe badly phrased
Evwryone can LD with correct attitude & training.

But some people might be more likely to have natural abilities in family groups???
