Natural lucid dreaming

I'm new to this website. I've been a lucid dreamer my whole Life. I didn't realize that it was abnormal until a friend of mine started studying how to do it. I don't know about all this sleep mask stuff and reminders or whatever you guys do to make your own lucid dreams. I do know the affect some medications have on my dreams, but for the most part... I study my dreams every night naturally. I've recently made a huge life changing breakthrough in my dreams, and I had to find a way to share what I was going through. That's why I came here. I hope other people can help me put into perspective what I'm able to do, because I don't know how common this is, or if it's even something people do. I start my dream from the moment I decide to sleep. I am clear, and have control usually every night, but I only fully remember my dreams about 5 times a week. I assume it's normal that the most easily recalled parts of my dreams are when I first sleep, and when I'm about to wake up. I can often open my eyes on command while I'm dreaming, and then return to my sleep, but I can't do that in REM. I have many hobbies in my sleep. I enjoy flying the most, though recently I've started building terrain and islands, and growing crops. I also have always enjoyed writing music in my dreams. I've noticed that flying without wings feels like some kind of invisible orb of flotation I have to balance on. For most of my Life, I would lift up my legs, and begin to balance on that levitation orb, and then I can go wherever I want as long as I keep my balance. It feels a little like standing up while riding a bike, and not having to pedal. Recently I learned that placing that orb in my chest allows me to fly much more freely, without the risk of landing on my head and waking up, or getting to a point where I can't stop spinning. I've also noticed that when I write music, the sound can't come from the instrument. It comes from my head or behind my head, and everybody can hear the music from my perspective. They don't have perspectives of their own. I don't understand why I can try to strum a guitar, and the sound only comes from my head no matter what I do. I want to know so much about all these things, and hear what others can do, especially if it's natural.

Yeah I've experienced LDs even before I learned about that. Not as much as you do but sometimes. Well some people seem to have a natural talent for it. Who knows what is the cause of that.

So, do you go into REM sleep as soon as you fall asleep? If so, that isn't normal. Usually sleep cycles start with NREM and end with REM, with periods of REM increasing with each cycle throughout the night. So, it's usually easier to remember your last dreams before waking up than your first. Also, you implied that you could open your eyes during NREM dreams? This isn't a skill others usually have. Most people can't even remember their NREM dreams.

Dreaming, lucid dreaming and dream control are skills. Everybody's different so some people are naturally good at these skills and some people aren't. You ought to be lucky to naturally have these skills.

My best skill is summoning girls lol.

Recently I had a near-dream experience shortly after laying down that I woke up from and remembered. Maybe it was NREM. It was definitely different from regular thought. As I was lying in bed I transitioned from regular awake thought to a much more dreamy version of the thought. I wish I remembered more detail so I can explain it better. I think there were characters that I was looking at or imagining as characters more so than when you just think of someone's actions or words, but it transitioned from regular awake thought and stayed on topic. I may have imagined the characters doing more random things than you would if you were just thinking of events in your life or maybe the characters did some stuff on their own with me knowing I wasn't thinking it up in the normal conscious way. It was the first time I remembered transitioning from wakefulness to sleep or something so near sleep.

Wow so good to meet another natural LD'er! I've been doing it naturally my whole life too... all this time I thought I was alone :(

Like you I didn't know what I was doing was anything special I had been doing it since I started recalling my dreams around age 4 and it just continued to develop into a self-taught skill. I also enter REM very quickly and stay in REM for most the night having lots of long dreams both lucid and non-lucid, sometimes even transcendental.

That skill you have seems very unique, I've had well over a thousand lucid dreams (probably more although I don't recall/record them all) and never experienced that. I have experienced something similar being aware during deep sleep but never tried opening my eye's, just staying in deep sleep mode for ultimate recovery/body repair. The music thing sounds a little weird but I would say in general sounds can come from both internal and/or external, like the time I heard heavenly music playing but couldn't tell where it was coming from.

Wow, I just posted a new topic somewhere that is really similar. I am also a natural LDer since childhood. I have ignored my LD for a long time and not really interacted with them until I came to this site. I have just recently noticed that I can go to bed intending to dream about a certain target place or have some kind of intention before falling asleep and then I do usually have some LD regarding the intentions. I also feel like my dream starts right away and I am getting better every week with dream control.

You'r not alone at all i too have what is called Natural Lucid Dreaming and I too never knew that I was that special until one of my friends mentioned it to me.:rolllaugh:
Anyway, I've been searching the internet for answers and to find out what is so special about Lucid Dreaming. I would say that the only difference between you and me is our dreams. Although i don't Dream about myself flying i do find myself waking up after a dream where i had fallen from a very high place. When i wake up from these dreams my stomach physically feels queeze as if i was on a thrilling roller coaster. I seem to get a lot of these "falling from a high place" dreams but i never knew why or how i felt what i felt.
Another strange ability that i didn't know most people couldn't do was that sometimes before i have fully entered "Sleep Mode" i can usually just 'Create' or 'make up' a dream in my head to help me fall asleep.
I realized as i got older that if i skipped just ONE night without Lucid Dreaming i would wake up feeling like i had never even gone to sleep. I now encourage my self to Lucid Dream almost every night with some online strategies, and I know what your thinking.... "there's know way this person can Lucid Dream Every Night!" well I've gotten this response before and I know it would seem impossible or extremely rare from what I've read online but, Yes! I do in fact Lucid Dream every night, i only miss about one to two nights out of an entire month of Lucid Dreaming and i usually don't experience any Lucid Dreams if i have a very bland or boring day.
Before this year i never knew i had this hidden talent and I've seemed to cherish it more everyday that goes by.
It usually helps me to know that I have a special Dream catcher beside me that I've had all my life even though it probably doesn't do anything to help my Lucid Dreams it's still a nice touch to my sleeping environment.
