Video of dreams
Has anyone mentioned that scientists can read your dream mind and create a video of it? I think I read that within the year. That's mind reading no matter what anyone says and I wouldn't be surprised if the government is researching it. That seemed like a huge story to me and wherever I read it I considered it trustworthy. I'd like to see a video of someone's dream. Someone should upload one.

Google for "Shinji Nishimoto" "Jack Gallant". An article I read when the story came out said someone was making videos of people's dreams for, I think it was a couple hundred dollars.

Nishimoto's research at Jack Gallant's lab (at UC Berkeley) is actually strictly meant to record the visual cortex activities that happen during video watching. In their paper, they suggest that it would be a future possible application to "record" dreams, but this is nowhere close to realistic as of now. Also, their technique produces rather fuzzy footage - surprisingly close to reality though. I study at UC Berkeley and talked to Nishimoto via Facebook; he left for Japan and the research project is being continued at Gallant's lab; one of my housemates works for Gallant.

I saw some of the footage on the internet. There was very little and I wished I could see more. There were some numbers or letters that were crystal clear, unlike the human figures and landscape. I'd be interested in seeing footage from a person reading and, even though it's the visual cortex, dreaming. I wish there was a blog with periodic updates on this.
