Lucid Dream Study (September 2014)

This study is focussing exclusively on lucid dreams (LDs) in which an encounter with some deceased person/s takes place and in which some kind of communication with the dream person/s could be experienced.
The overall aim is to learn something about the “reality” of the dream person. Important for this purpose would be if the deceased person in the LD carries any information, which was unknown to you before.
For training LD you could use Stephen LaBerge’s method:
Mnemotechnical induction for lucid dreaming (MILD)
1. If you spontaneously awake in the morning from a dream, recall this dream several times until you really can remember it.
2. Shortly before you fall into sleep again, you tell yourself: “When I am dreaming the next time I will think about to recognize that I am dreaming.
3. Go back in the images of your last dream. Now you also imaging that you are conscious about the fact that you are dreaming.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3, until you get the feeling that your intention is perfectly clear and settled or go on with repeating until you fall into sleep.
How to meet a deceased person in your dream
1. Decide beforehand if there is any particular person you want to meet.
2. If you don’t have a special person in mind you can also try to meet a deceased person you have heard of, but never met personally.
3. It you don’t know whom you want to meet at all then shout out in the dream that you want to meet any deceased person known to you.
For conversations in dreams Robert Waggoner’s suggestions are helpful:
Guidelines for conversations with dream figures
1. Don’t insult the Dream Figure by expressing your prejudiced assumptions: “You are a creation of my mind!” or “Do you know I am dreaming you?” Most dream figures just stare at you, when you say those things. Instead ask something showing more aware, like “Who are you?” or “What do you represent?” or “Why are you here?” Then, listen for their response.
2. Ask more specific questions, as opposed to general questions. Asking general questions like, “What is my purpose in life?” may lead to cryptic responses, like “To live.” Instead ask more specific questions like “What does this white horse symbolize?”
3. When you have a choice, look for the most appropriate or intelligent dream figure to talk with. If you see Aunt Nelly, but remember that Aunt Nelly was a pathological liar, asking her questions will lead to questionable results.
4. For questions of a conceptual nature, it may be best to simply “Ask the Dream”. Simply shout out your question to the Dream – and wait for the response!
5. In the visually symbolic realm of dreaming, the best result may come when your question starts, “Show me…..” For example, “Show me my ideal self!” or “Show me my ideal job!” If confused by the response, ask for clarification!!
6. See the answer in broad terms – it may come as a feeling, or an image, or words or a symbol or all of these!
7. Develop your most important question/s in the waking state. Sometimes in the excitement of being lucid, you may be unable to think of anything or come up with something silly, e.g., “Tell me why I like fig newtons!”
8. Come with a sense of openness to the conversation; come with a desire to learn, and not a desire to tell.
9. Recognize your influence in the process and the “Expectation Effect”. If you expect something, don’t be surprised when you get it. And if you get something unexpected, don’t toss it away and ignore it. Don’t be blind to what you do not want to see.
Suggestions for questions especially to deceased persons in LDs
1. Can you give me a message?
2. Can you give me a message I shall give to a person?
3. Can you give me any sign that I can see when I am awake?
Feel completely free to come up with any other ideas how to approach the dream person!
The study - How to do it:
1. Please let me know, if you take part.
2. Keep record of all your LDs from now onwards.
3. Send me the documentation of your dreams, if there were any deceased person/s involved.
4. Give your dreams a headline and a date.
5. If you had LDs of the deceased in earlier times, please include these dreams as well (with approximate date).
