      LIFE CHANGING Lucid Dreaming Device!!!

Hi everyone, apologise for the dramatic headline but I have an idea - an amazing idea. An idea that if i was a programmer / inventor I would have kept to myself with the potential to make a lot of money.

The idea I have could / would / should blow Remme / Novadreamers out of the window - perhaps

Background: For months I have been practising CanWild as my main induction method. Canwild is the same as DEILD but an alarm is used instead of a natural awakening. I have an alarm app and wear headphones. I set the first alarm for 6 hours then 20 mins thereafter. The alarm shuts off automatically after 4 seconds and I choose the sound of the alarm so my setup is very customizable and effective. The problem is i have to wear headphones and set alarms etc

Now i bought an Apple iWatch and was able to creat a similar setup but the problem is that the vibration device on the Apple iWatch is not strong enough to wake most people up during sleep and so is ineffective

      THEN CAME THE IDEA! :-)

The iWatch has a built in sensor that detects your heartbeat, you can see your heartbeat at any time on the watch

I researched and discovered that your heartbeat increases up to 10 beats per minute during REM sleep - Really? Yes really!

Now, just imagine the following ...

A smartwatch with a a vibrating alarm powerful enough to wake you from sleep combined with an app that vibrates the watch when your heartbeat goes up for a period of time!

This, to me sounds like the perfect DEILD device. Simply strap it on at bed and get gently woken during each REM sleep

As we already know, DEILD is the most effective method for lucid dreaming

DEVELOPERS: Even writing an app as described above for the iWatch could be extremely effective for lighter sleepers

I think its an amazing idea - what do you guys think?

I have tried repeatedly to write an algorithm for detecting REM sleep from the heartbeat:
      http://www.dreamviews.com/research/1...rem-sleep.html.

I thought there was a little more to it than an increase in BPM... according to this there should be an "increase in the chaotisity (decrease in D2 degree of freedom)":

Any way that you could provide sleep logs?

Hi, sorry, im only an 'ideas' guy. The reason my CanWild is successful is because i set alarms 20 mins apart after 6 hours sleep so the chance of my alarm waking me during a dream is over 90%. I only have google researched knowledge about the increase in heartbeat during REM. If you could continue your work with the iWatch in mind then you could create one of the best every DEILD devices in the World. Sorry that I cant contribute more to this :-/

When I read this posts, I think of theDash as a nice sleep hacking device. It is a wireless in-ear headphone with plenty of sensors (including HR, spo2 and movement). It is comfortable enough to sleep with it in the ears (I tried it, being developer backer). When they finally release the SDK and it would be really that easy that REM could be detected by an increase of HR plus little to no motion (due to SP) it can be modded to detect REM and and play sound during REM. You then can use any app-able vibration band (MiBand, iWatch, Android wear, ...) to deliver vibration cues.
(and thanks for the ecg paper!)

      Go Go ! Let's experiment ! Let's try

I hope in 10 years, everybody will have regular acess to lucid dreaming via DEILD (keeping lucidity is another thing ! most guys will eventually want to learn mindfulness to be able to remain lucid )

Can DEILD steers us into mindfulness ? That would be a great story end
Check your memory, did any suprising event happpen ? does the present make sense ? visualize what you will do when lucid, and how. Reality check as reminder of your intention to lucid dream tonight. Sleep as good as you can; when going to sleep, relax and invite whatever comes with curiosity. Grab your dream journal immediately as you awake and write everything you can recall (if only when you wake up for good). Keep calm, positive and persistent, and don't forget to have fun along the way

Here is another good paper: Detection of REM sleep by heart rate. Will see if I can make a logger and find some patterns...

I think so too. It makes sense that heart rate increases over the deep sleep level, if there is interesting activity going on in the dream. But if the dream is not very exciting, there is not much reason for the heart rate to change all that much.

However, surely some dreams lead to an increased heart rate, and catching those would be worth it, even if the other ones get away.
So ... is this the real universe, or is it just a preliminary study?

You could've at least made the title like "If you have iWatch check this life changing tip!".

I think there is more potential in an kind of glass that notices the little movements on your closed eye lids during REM. But again i am not sure about this.
