      Cool The Matrix Morpheus Experiment

The Matrix Morpheus Experiment. Do you want to know... what.. it. is? lets find out

      8_1280x1024l.jpg

I would like to appeal to and entice all dreamers alike in an experiment or challenge if you will... to summon Morpheus within your lucid dream. Sounds easy right? what could possibly go wrong.

No strings attached, you are free to summon him however you wish, and do whatever you like in the dream. Maybe you will say goodbye as quickly as you said hello, or maybe you learn from him how to free your mind and see how deep the rabbit hole goes, the choice I leave to you.

The purpose behind this, is to see if he can assist with dream control or attaining higher levels of lucidity. As the character Morpheus is not just Laurence Fishburne playing a role in the film "The Matrix", but was believed in Ancient Greece to be the God of sleep and dreams. Below is a classical depiction or statue of him:

      MorpheusGod.jpg

So it would at least make some practical sense to ask for his assistance in this area if the latter is true, especially since majority of people on this forum are well trained in the ways of the oneironaut.

You are also free to employ and incorporate other methods you have picked up along the way in your dream learning such as WILD, VILD, MILD, WBTB, dream journal, etc. if that makes it easier for you.

Being a greek god of sleep and dreams, a little prayer and intention before sleep might not go astray...

Here is a more modern depiction of the Greek God Morpheus:

      morpheus.jpg

Happy Adventuring and Safe Travels fellow dreamers, look forward to hearing from you and I will see you in the dream of life better known as The Matrix.

I know right? I am dumbfounded why I did not think of this before...

I mean, I had dreams of being Neo a few times but never considered getting Morpheus involved as a potential trainer/mentor/guide.

One more thought here. You might want to also add this as a suggestion for a monthly task. I think it would make a good one. Something like Find Morpheus, see what he has to tell you, and take either the blue or red pill.

MoonageDaydream, that's a wonderful idea and I tried looking for the monthly task thread, but couldn't find it.
I don't have much interest in undertaking monthly tasks myself, at least not at the moment as my focus is currently on meditation and astral travel over lucid dreaming.
You're welcome to suggest it as an idea if you want.

Well, I managed lucidity this morning but my experience didn't last and I never managed to summon Morpheus. I must be very rusty. I will continue to try, though, as this task is fairly straightforward apart from being interesting. I'll regard the following as my first half-assed attempt ...

      Date: 05/01/2021
      Method of entry: dream consciousness
      Bedtime: 3.30am
      Awakening: 8.30am
      Return to bed: 8.35am
      Awakening: 1.30pm
      Attempt: briefly successful
      Phase experience: waterspout/false awakening

      Waking State

I drink a bottle of Bailey's and devour a few episodes of The Undoing series. It is well past midnight. Just before bedtime, I drink cloves tea and fall asleep to a video about lucid dreaming on my Phaser app. Upon my first awakening from deep sleep, I make sure my son is up for his remote lessons and return to bed after using the loo.

      Dream State

Dream recall is vague but the setting is a beach house that I take to be mine despite the contradiction with waking life. I open the front door to admire the beach under an unusually colourful night sky. There are no stars. The sky is characterised by vivid multicoloured patches, like Monet brush strokes resembling chromatic cloud wisps against a deep ultramarine, celestial canvas. The dark sea appears to be receding, as though a tsunami is brewing near the horizon, where the vista is a lot darker and turbulent; a massive waterspout tornado is forming before my eyes, and my alarming urge to call my wife inside the house is quickly overturned by the realisation that I'm dreaming.

      Phase State

The colossal waterspout dominating the sea doesn't take long to disintegrate. I allow myself to get too excited and vision starts fading. I run inside the house to touch as many objects as possible, feeling like I'm moving through an unstable corridor with furniture units along the way. Panicking that the lucid dream might collapse, I spin for a couple of seconds and then deliberately fall backwards. I perceive my body lying in bed but immediately bounce back up no matter the outcome. I'm walking around in my bedroom and perambulate into the living room. The environment is dark but feels absolutely real—as opposed to dreamlike—but I still entertain the possibility that it is hallucinatory in nature; I rub my hands and the room brightens gradually. Subsequently, I find myself lying in bed for real as my wife jolts me in her sleep. I review my experience in order to refine my practice in future attempts.

I can summon him sooner if I stick The Matrix on. Will that count? LOL 😆

Like I said, no strings, no rules, so go right ahead! however, lying about it would be breaking a rule against your own moral code
That one is like an unwritten law of life, the only person you end up lying to is yourself... hahaha.

Eonnn! I've done it! But it wasn't Lawrence Fishburne! But he did claim to be Morpheus! 😁

      Date: 08/01/2021
      Method of entry: deferred indirect
      Bedtime: 1.45am
      Awakening: 6.25am
      Return to bed: 6.35am
      Awakening: 8.30am
      Attempt: successful
      Phase experience: Morpheus
      App: Phaser

      Waking state

Upon my first awakening, I remind myself of my plan of action for lucid dreaming and use the loo. I return to bed and spend a few minutes relaxing and peering into the darkness behind my eyelids. Curiously, a random visual impression of moving a glass of water with my hand emerges in my mind, which causes my finger to twitch in reality. Subsequently, I fluctuate between wakefulness and shallow dream states; there is a vague dream involving a dialogue with Asian shopkeepers.

      Phase state

I find myself standing in the backgarden of my house and the gate is ajar. An old man wearing a brown cardigan is peeking in. I'm taken aback by the realism at first but understand the situation to be hallucinatory. I see the old man slowly continuing along the pavement. I run up behind him and take flight above his bald head. 'Whoo-hoo! I'm dreaming!' I soar into the night sky in my excitement and plunge back to the earth at full speed. 'I must meet Morpheus!'

I'm lying in bed in darkness but manage to vigorously rub my hands in front of my eyes until I see luminous digits. I keep rubbing them until the dark void materialises a scenery behind fully-fledged hands. I walk through a mountain pass, as though travelling through a Transylvanian mountain range, with dark green foliage on either side, leading to a little castle. I run towards the medieval structure until I reach its entrance.

There are two massive doors and I knock on both. I step away for a second to examine a wooden gate with my fingers, I notice that a patch of ground by the entrance to the castle displays a chesslike pattern which feels like marble to the touch. Looking up, in the distance, the horizon is concealed by a foggy, nighttime landscape redolent of Minecraft, with a hint of lunar light but no moon in sight.

I draw my attention back to the doors and focus on the left one because its wooden surface is now displaying a vibrant red. I bang on the red door whilst shouting, 'Morpheus! Morpheus! Are you there? Morpheus!' My voice echoes. The door finally opens to reveal a towering character resembling a cross between an Arthurian knight and a jester. His head and neck are covered by a helmet and his pale, friendly countenance is marked by a distinct proboscis. 'Are you Morpheus?' I ask him as I rub my hands to prevent a premature end to this experience. 'Well, yes, my child!' Comes the British reply in the sound of an old man's calm voice. 'Come in.'

I step inside to find a humble abode with some pottery and strange objects on shelves. Morpheus heads for an open kitchen. I notice that his outfit is now displaying more white fabric than before. What an extravagant lord of dreams! I think that he looks and sounds nothing like Lawrence Fishburne from The Matrix, but regard him as my Morpheus nonetheless, so I request the obvious for a reaction by saying, 'You got any pills for me?'

Morpheus opens a refrigerator, reaches for what I presume to be pills, and hands me two little sweets of a pale blue and red colouration. I take both. As I chew them, the taste reminds me of sugary tablets that my kids have offered me before. 'Come and sit, my child', he says, leading me to a round table semi-surrounded by a padded couch. He sits down first and I reluctantly follow, suddenly becoming aware that remaining still for prolonged periods might end the experience. I rub my hands to maintain the realism but feel like expressing my concern to what now feels like a profoundly wise character: 'Morpheus, maybe I shouldn't sit. I could wake up!'

But Morpheus seems unconcerned. Instead, after briefly regarding me with oddly pale-blue eyes and a furrowed brow betraying slight incredulity, the oneiric lord gives me a cryptic reply: 'You know, child ... Your sympathy knows no bounds.' He looks away and begins to fade. I stop rubbing my hands as I begin to lack confidence in maintaining the lucid dream. I wake up satisfied with having met Morpheus.

      Waking state

I suppose I could re-enter the phase by lying still and waiting for imagery to come, but I hear my youngest son entering the room to get ready for his remote lessons on the laptop. I record the experience on my smartphone.

Gratz man! nice job well done! love that cryptic reply he gave you...

Personally, I think I'd rather meet Morpheus the Greek God than Morpheus the movie character. Also, taking both pills at same time has just blown my mind! hahaha, love it.

Need to keep tryin I reckon, see if he has anything else to offer besides candy.

      Lol😄

Well, my Morpheus looked pretty medieval and he gave me candy. Maybe I should have said to him, 'Are you thick, mate? I said "pills"!' Yeah, that cryptic reply before I woke up is weird. I'm still reflecting on it to see if I find some sense or familiarity in my subconscious mind. Perhaps I should pay him another visit!

Good luck with your attempt! The fun is that lucid dreaming can totally surprise you.

I like your idea of knocking on the door while asking for Morpheus, with the expectation that someone will answer. In my own lucid last night, I did not knock. I just barged right on in assuming Morpheus was inside. He was not!

Expectation can be tricky. I find that it is easier to pretend it's already there than to 'believe it will' which sort of implies it hasn't happened yet. Usually, this sort of thing might take a couple of tries during a lucid dream because it is easier said than done, right? I was actually surprised that it worked as quickly as it did, but the fact that I was already thinking someone had to be living in that castle must've helped.

It gets stranger. Since I last posted here I remembered that over Christmas my mum mentioned having watched the Merlin series so now I'm wondering if my Arthurian Morpheus partly originates from that conversation—which took place about two weeks ago, now!

      By the way, Eonnn ...

I took the RED door, took both pills, and managed to stay in Wonderland long enough to get a cryptic reply from medieval Morpheus. So I voted 'red'! LOL

Good luck if you decide to try again, MoonageDaydream!
