I was about to make a post on this very topic. Here's what I wrote about the show:
"Just watched a show on Watch Instantly on Netflix. It might be available on YouTube.
I pretty much knew everything in the show (as most of us here suredly would), but it was still educational and informative.
"What Are Dreams?: Nova"
The only thing I disagreed on was that 'a person who nods off while sitting at a couch isn't in REM sleep. If they were in REM sleep, they would fall off the couch.' BUT, I'm still under the impression that MOST people think we only dream while in REM. The man speaking may not have been referencing that at all.
I have OFTEN fallen asleep while sitting up or slouched over and I will be in the middle of an intense dream."
I saw this on TV when it first came out. Nova is a great show :).
Seen it already. It's pretty good.
I recently watched it, I wasn't aware that during nonremsleep our dreams were more compressed, I guess this is why we sometimes feel like we've been dreaming for hours when it has only been a few minutes in waking life.
