Complex Character Induced LD.

This is a technique that I'd like to pitch in. It's the Complex Character Induced Lucid Dream. (CCILD)

To do this technique, you need to create a character. This can be done several ways, but they need to have multiple facets in their behavior, beliefs, past, and whatnot. Then you have to make them come alive in your own mind, so to speak. I personally know people that write as a hobby and do the same thing; putting the character in different situations, sometimes with other characters, and seeing how they would react if they were the character, to make the story more believable and flow better.

After creating the character, and performing the usual waking actions to WILD, get comfortable and just start chatting with the character, ignoring what the body might do. The subject matter shouldn't be something that would usually keep you awake at night. Rather, it should be light-hearted but interesting. It needs to be able to be carried on for a long time, too.

After a while, only chatting in your own mind and not moving, SP and HI might start. You can enjoy the experience, but it's suggested to keep chatting until a dream fully forms. Proceed as you wish.

The basis of this technique is to distract your mind with an ever-changing task. To keep a conversation moving, the mind must remain active, and therefore it has little chance of falling into unconsciousness. With the distraction, the body falls asleep because of any signals and 'tests' being ignored.

I'd like this technique to be tested with a range of people before I release it to beginners. Anybody that tries this technique, report here. I want to have feedback for proof of concept. Thanks in advance.

I would love to try your technique, but I have a question. If this is a form of WILD, and you are supposed to keep your mind active of the conversation, then how can you get into a dream? Unless I am mistaken, you are supposed to keep the brain relaxed, and calm, without any focuses.

Muggler: I have heard this a few times, but I don't feel like there is a requirement to have your mind relaxed completely. In most WILD techniques, the distraction is continued on right up to the dream forming.

Everyone is different, however, so if you think that your mind must be relaxed, then this technique can be used to make SP and HI go much faster. This should greatly increase chances of an LD forming.

Funny how so many dream inducing techniques are a perfect match to the kind of thing I've spent my life falling asleep to. :P

I do something similar when I am trying to achieve sleep paralysis. Instead of imagining myself talking to the character, I instead become the character and put myself into random situations. Almost like watching a movie, except I am playing the main character.

I can see how this technique could be used to keep your mind awake while your body sleeps. Although, your mind still could wonder onto other things and fall asleep.

That is possible with almost every technique there is. I happen to think that this will give a person something to continually monitor. If the conversation goes off on a tangent, then something is up.

To each, his own opinion. I do, however, think that the CCILD can help a lot of people that are tired of monotonous chants to try to stay awake. I am one of those people, matter of fact. This has given me my first WILD in over a year. I hope I'm not generalizing here, but if it can work for me, then it just might work for others.
