      Is the Earth Growing?

      YouTube - Expanding Earth

Makes sense to me. Every time I see Pangea, I always think... ok, so what's on the other side of the earth, because it looks like the supercontinent is only on one hemisphere.

      No.

It looks neat but the empirical evidence is for good ol' plate tectonics.

Why would scientists conceal something like this anyway? It makes no sense.

Also volcanos, the mid-atlantic rift, the countless fault lines...

Yes the earth is growing, it collects 40 tons of space dust every day, and it was higher in the past, but pretty constant for the time we are talking about. The earth weight 5.972 sextillion tons. The amount the earth grows is insignificant.

Also, are the people that made that video unaware of the global positioning system? Scientists record the motion of the plates to precision of fractions of an inch. We are 100% sure that the plates are moving. Some move several inches a year. 40 tons of space dust over the entire planet doesn't come within a trillionth of a trillionth of that.

Sorry pseudo-science. Once again, real science has made you its bitch.

The only problem I have with the idea, what causes (or allows) the earth to grow?

Really? The ONLY problem?? What about where water came from and how it suddenly began appearing more and more as the Earth "grew". Or gravitational implications of a growing Earth in its orbit around the Sun. Or how we've been able to measure the exact location of points on the Earth using satellites for 30 years. Or all the research in geology and paleontology over the last century that has used continental drift as a model and never found any inconsistencies.

The reason this guy is getting so much hate is because there's nothing scientific about how he presents his material. His conclusions aren't logical, and he relies on the all-too-typical "the scientists know but are lying to you" conspiracy theory bullshit. He gets hate because he's willfully spreading disinformation and is slandering a whole branch of science that probably goes way above his head. Is he even qualified at all to make these assumptions? Is he a geologist, an oceanographer, a scientist of any kind? Did he take an extra credit geography course in high school?

Lastly, the famous Occam's Razor states that the simplest explanation is often the correct one. In what world does the Earth magically ballooning by some unknown method make more sense than parts of the crust just moving around a bit for which we already have plenty of evidence? The only people who buy into this are those who get caught up in the sensational "OMG IT'S A CONSPIRACY!!" mumbo jumbo.

Now real scientists are persecuting non believers, just like Christians do. Thank you for proving my point.

How does this have anything to do with persecution? It's not a strength or a virtue to be willfully ignorant of the world. You have no idea what you're talking about, apparently.

Is it called persecution when a teacher gives a child an F because he chose not to do anything about his assignment but slack off?

Wait, so 'real' science is coming to a pre-determined conclusion about something and then running with it until you bump into seemingly corraborating evidence or else clinging to an idea without the ability to adapt or change one's mind? How is that anything like science? (And that isn't persecution. It is asking what basis someone has to make a claim.)

To be honest a lot stranger things have happened (although perhaps not as strange as healing crystals... disregard that).

Let's not forget that right now we along with 100,000,000,000 other solar systems are hurtling around a giant funnel of bent spacetime, like grains of sand swept up into a whirlpool, caused by a supermassive black hole at the centre; an object of effectively infinite density caused by the accumulation of the remnants of thousands of giant balls of superhot fusing plasma undergoing total structural collapse, remnants so heavy that light itself is bent completely around and back so that they appear totally black.

I could go on but the point is that the Earth getting a bit larger isn't really so incredible.
