Telepathy via electric patterns in the brain?

Note: Title should be pulses, not patterns. :cheeky:

The human body functions on electric pulses: Synapses, nerve endings, muscles moving.
In crude theory, wouldn't it be possible to use something/alter something so that the triggered synapses throw off an electromagnetic field, or something of the like, that others can pick up? Like a radio towers and receivers.

I'm not saying that it's even possible to get anywhere CLOSE to that with today's technology and understanding of biology and neurology, but if we were writing a sci-fi book 2000 years in the future. Maybe?

That's really awesome. The sites look pretty legit too! I was half-expecting crap ones. I'm starting to rethink college now. lol

As the articles, that StephL linked, show us, neuroscientists are starting to get to the point where they can map and transmit very crude stimuli from brain-brain. They are still not at the point where they can transmit more complex thoughts/ideas, but I wouldn't even doubt that they will get there soon. I think that one of the biggest obstacles right now is that each brain has unique characteristics, so they have to map each person's brain individually for the technology to work. But yea, it's a very interesting field that is making some crazy advances.

Oh yes - do that - rethink studying!!
Choose "real" reality aspects, that fascinate you - to learn about them - find out new things - and have your mind blown!

I was looking at the title - then at the forum-section this is in - and thought - okay - before some crap shows up - I will post some real science being done.
There is no reason to doubt the sources - these are perfectly legit studies by perfectly legit neuroscientists.
A thread on the long term view of society-development next door brought these links of Oneironaut to my mind primarily - thought they fit here nicely.

This is something I care about - not so sure why actually - people of the beyond persuasion so much wish for the "supernatural" being for real - for all the interesting consequences of shared dreaming for example.

But instead of deluding oneself - why not work on realizing such scenarios?
I am pretty convinced, there will be virtual reality, where you can share your reality/dream/some other scenario together - and esp. who is young just now might very well live to try it out.

I am very happy with my conviction, that my dreams are my dreams and only that.
I wouldn´t find it nice, if I were to - absolutely unexpectedly, I got to say - find out, that there is an intrusion possible completely without technology and by - well - lets say people without a lot of background in anything - even mystical practice - on here.

I keep wondering why so many - with rare exceptions - like Mylynes or shadowofwind - always only see the positive side of affairs, and don´t think things through at all.

Funnily - seeing the links above - I guess everybody gets a little creepy feeling, about how far this can be driven.
But at the very least - one would probably know, that one is accessible - hopefully have a choice too - and some security measures in place.
If there comes a culture with mandatory implants for children - weell - we will see.
There are some interesting science fiction stories - dealing with a scenario with full telepathic potential being realized by some tech or other..
