      Actually, we could just destroy the planet with nukes making an invasion pointless. After all, nuclear weapons are basically suicide kill switches. Then again, maybe the alien species values life as a resource.

      Here is a thought. If a pacifist alien species is studying our planet and a hostile alien species notices our planet, would the pacifist alien species that is curious defend the planet for preservation of scientific purposes? Most likely preservation if life is valued as a resource. If not, then our demise would be interesting Science and/or History to them.

      Anyways, we are probably being studied, yet we do and don't know it.

      Most likely, and maybe they're camping out on the moon. Did you know the moon was hollow, and that there are craters that go to the center? They could very well hide in there. Hell, even have a huge base in there.

      Better yet, maybe the moon is just a huge frozen piece of ice with billions of years of dust/debris that has accumulated and compacted on it's surface.
