Have you ever tried to make up a language?

I'm not talking about a little code like pig-latin or anything, but I mean a brand new language with it's own grammar, sounds, alphabet, and vocabulary. I've tried a few times, either starting from scratch with a brand new language, or basing my language off of other ones. Like I made a Romance (Latin) based language which was sort of a mix of different languages with some added stuff I came up with, and with changed grammar etc. But whenever I try to make a "poetic" language from scratch, it usually starts to turn into French... Has anyone ever tried to make their own language? And has anyone ever made a poetic or romantic language that doesn't sound.... just like French?

I made a simple looking one. It was actually an alphabet to look like Finnish, so I messed with the sentence structure

Most of mine combine the verbs or nouns. "A couch" to "Acouch" or "to chop" to "tochop"

I mostly make alphabets when I'm bored. I have 10+, lol. I have my Fake Finnish. One that uses Arabic letters, another that uses Japanese characters, I think I made a ebrew based one. The rest are just w/e I felt like. There're only a few I can read because I wrote "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" on the papers, lol

      Most of them are phonetic

Here's some from my Latin one: It's not too original, (since it's mostly based off of existing languages) but whatever. Accents cause stress, which is normally fairly evenly distributed throughout the words, possibly with some light stress on the first syllable. Idk yet really . The language borrows heavily from Italian.

      Alo - Hello
      Salúte - Hi
      Bona matína - Good Morning
Com suí? - How are you? (informal)
Com sonís? - How are you? (formal)
      Bene - Good
      De - Of
      Dia - From
      La - At
      Dan - In
      Cu - With
      Si - And

      Here's some sentences:

La dona lacrima per la noapta. - The woman cries through the night.
L'oameni mangiont dan lo restaurant. - The men eat in the restaurant.
Vui vis dan ona casa vualeta. - You (all) live in a violet house.
Ele avónt nuev frese. - They (females) have 9 strawberries.
Io sué estupit. - I am stupid.
