Zombie Survival Plan

In this game you need to come up with a plan to survive a zombie apocalypse. Even the undead need energy, so most of the zombies will die out in about six months. You need to come up with a plan that will last you through the entire six months of the zombie apocalypse. Here are some of the things that you need to consider when your coming up with your plan.

*Food
*Water
*Weapons and ammo
*Injuries

Here are the characteristics of the zombies.

*Move at about walking speed
*Can't swim
*Are attracted to noise
*Not very intelligent and will fall for traps most of the time
*The zombies have to bite you in order for you to become infected

Your location is also important. The infection starts in New York, New York. If you live in the city of New York the zombies will start coming right away.
In the state of New York and surrounding states - You have a few hours
Anywhere else in North America - You have 3 days
South America - You have a week
Anywhere else in the world - You have 2 weeks

Your location might also determine your access to weapons and other supplies. Also you don't have much time until stores are raided. And chances are unless you know someone who works at a gun store, once the infection reaches your area the owners will probably be unwilling to give you any of their guns.

Remember you can use anything you own to try and survive. Raiding houses and stores is also an option, but chances are that other people will start looting too, so if that's part of your plan you need to do it fast.

Edit: I almost forgot. The population of the location your in is also important. Low population = low number of zombies. High population = high number of zombies. So living in the in a town with a low population would be good in this case. Living in a city with a high population will make things harder for you though.

Edit 2: A few more thing I forgot.
*If an animal is infected by a zombie the animal will die, but does not become a zombie
*Zombies will normally die from hard hits to the head
*Zombies are always active, but remember they only move at walking speed
*Zombies can't survive extreme heat or extreme cold
*Zombies can't track humans they usually move toward sound, but if they see you they will attack you

First off, I'd carry a bat, and my mode of transportation would prob be a bike (one with saddle bags/ painiers[sp?])(if possible a bike trailer). I would probably use a pickup truck to cover ground and give me some time(this would be initial as gas will become inaccessable)

Assuming that I'm allowed anything in my current house is in my "NYC" house, I have a survival book I'd take with me. I would load up on as much food/ water as possible(more water as you'll only last 2-3 days without it and food is like 2-3 wks). I'd take a few tools like adjustable wrenches, hammer, chisel, duct tape, , compass, knifes, rope, sissors(I'd cut my hair off since bathing would be an issue). Maps would also be good. I would most likely get to a store ASAP and buy/raid any needed supplies. Food seeds would be good also for if I find an area that is safe enough to stay for a long period. This would have to be quick as food would be in short supply, but raiding along the way may be enough

I do have camping supplies like tents and such and would take the lightest things

My overall plan would be to get to a rural area away from towns. Pretty much be a hermit

Do animals get infected?
Do zombies die if you give them a hard knock on the head?
are zombies always active(do they sleep during the day like i am legend, or sleep during the night)?
Can zombies survive in weather extremes (snow, desert)?
Can zombies track humans?

I'm going to do this day by day, just to keep the thread alive
Day 1: Im sitting at home, listing to the 6 o'clock news. Dramatic headlines "zombies in New York", i get off the computer, and sit down to watch with my parents, the news reader says "We are going live to New York, where it appears people are acting like zombies, Cathrin Brown was lucky to escape" "yeah well i was just walking down, and this person bit another guy, his eyes glazed over. The two people started walking slowly to others, and they back away. They moved to a oblivious French couple and bit them, and like the others, their eyes glazed over, and things just got worse from their. i got out of their quickly and now here i am." "Officials are warning to stay out of new york, the city will be locked down tomorrow. Stay away from New York State, Ohio, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont and Quebec." The News article then went on to talk about what to do if your bitten by zombie, how is the disease spreading and what is causing it. I go onto youtube and check out the videos, it looks like a war zone, i ask my parents if i can enroll in kickboxing, archery and fencing. They agree but only just. i go to sleep and contemplate what has happened

I think I will do what AustralianFire is doing
Alright, I live in Missouri (near Missouri, Kansas Border) so if I drive a few hours I will be in total hick country, even if I drive 30 minutes I could be in hick country. So I have an easy access to guns because a lot of people hunt around here. I would get with my immediate family and close friends and we would start driving to the West (to central Kansas) in about 4 different cars. We would stay in a pack though. Before we go we would all pack clothes and raid the house of anything useful. We would go to walmart to raid it with anything useful as well. My town is a suburb of a big town (suburb of Kansas City) so I don't know if that would be good, but we would get a move on and start leaving early on. We would get loads of gasoline and keep them in the cars so we have that. We would get any guns we already have, blunt items and anything of the sort just in case. Once we start moving out west (takes about 3 hours to get to central ish Kansas) we would start getting guns locally (because most places would be out) but when we get to Kansas we'd get more guns. We would find a group of more people, probably sleep in the cars together until day 3. We would probably stay in small towns in Kansas due to low population. I will continue this tomorrow, and pretend we are on the day it starts getting closer to us
