The 1,000 years was forcing my disbelief in your statement.
The article is a bit dated, as medical technology will likely get people to about 150 comfortably even by 2100, but I could definitely see that happening; technology makes natural selection a CHOICE, rather than a necessity, for survival. We don't need to have stronger bodies to survive, but people prefer larger breasts, more attractive facial features, and intellect, and "naturally" select those traits in a partner! (And those who select a partner for sex and sex only get what they can find eh?)
