US vs Europe / UK hairstyles

I am a US citizen, was in Europe recently and was quite pleased with the more exotic hairstyles worn by men in Europe. In the US, it seems like crew cuts are the norm.

Maybe in the US, people associate crew cuts with military patriotism, not with NeoNazism / skinheads, as they might be in Europe.

Anyway, is this your experience? Do you feel that haircuts for men are "loosening up" over time in the USA? Do you feel that the USA is getting influenced by Europe and the rest of the world?

I think the real issue here is whether or not the police could use a gun given the opportunity. Are their wrists strong enough to handle such recoil?

Sad but hilariously true. When I got off the plane in Europe, I accidentally walked through the passport gate without showing my passport. Some Europeans thought they were "tough" by showing me to a little room to ask wtf just happened. I pretty much yawned, having become calloused with the US police state.

Americans don't stick out quite as badly as they did 20 years ago. It's still pretty bad, but at least it's not so obnoxious that I just want to crawl in a hole and quietly rip up my passport anymore.
