Thread: Tell me about nothing.

Sometimes though one does something to something, and the result still amounts to nothing.

Though there's a difference between nothing and absolutely nothing, it's hard to see it, but it's there.

I can't see nothing.

My problem today seemed in part to be that I was staring at the glass half full of water, and looking at only the upper half, and there it was a half glass full of nothing, not counting the hot air.

That was yesterday, and the past does not exist. If it existed, it would not be the past. If it existed, it would not exist. Such a contradiction in reality is impossible, so the past would not exist even if it did.

I am sorry, but that is nonsense: my intelligence would be nothing if it were not for my education. College taught me to be tolerant, to have an open mind, to realize that there are shades of grey. Nothing is perfect, including our education system, but education is something.

Bertrand Russell does not exist.

Is the lack of existence nothing, or something?

I'd be happy to discuss it further, but not in the nothing thread. Here I feel like one cannot discuss anything serious. Not that "nothing" cannot be serious, but well if we are going to discuss nothing, it's better to really focus on it. Btw, do you think it's possible to make something out of nothing? Or nothing out of something?

Anything is possible. Except impossible. Impossible doesn't exist. Impossible is nothing.

Nothing is more serious than nothing. ...seriously.

If you wanted to do something, and you ended up doing nothing...did you do something, or nothing cannot be something?

well, do you have something against nothing. if not, then there is no difference between nothing and something.

Interesting question, as, in a way, our multidimensional geometry depends on it.
In school, we are taught that there is a one dimensional object, and that it doesn't really exist, but that an infinite amount of them come together to create a 2 dimensional object, and that those don't exist, but that they come together to create three dimensional objects, which do exist....
...I want to know how we pulled that off, because I would like to create dollar bills out of nothing.

If you create something from nothing, like your dollar bills, sloth, are they actually something, or nothing?

Now apply this same question to the Big Bang and the creation of the Universe.

I suspect we are all less than something, and possibly nothing.
