Thread: What Is Your Avatar? Show Us A Bigger Picture Of It!

Oh wow, great topic! I always wonder about people's avatars, and it's interesting to see a bigger version of it.

As for me, this is Gendo Ikari from the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, sitting in his favorite pose - the Gendo pose!

I still don't know how to make pictures big with this new system although I could swear I followed instructions to the letter with Photo Bucket. I am not the brightest light bulb in the Walmart when it comes to figuring out technology.

My avatar is the painting The Disquieting Muses by the Greek/Italian pre-surrealist Georgio de Chirico. He is one of my top four favorite painters, along with Henri Rousseau, Rene Magritte, and Vincent van Gogh.

Great - thanks for contributing - I fear I remember another such thread from not overly long ago, it came to my mind after opening this one, but one more can't hurt!

UM - if you are in photobucket, you have the [IMG] code besides others. If you just click on that code there, it auto-copies, and you can then just paste the whole thing as is in your answer - no need to use the symbol or do anything else. Maybe that works!

It will come out [IMG]................[/IMG] directly, with the url instead of points, I hope I don't make it worse, now - I have a talent...

I must dig some graves to find the original one I like the idea though and could be a good reason to start on that photobucket thing... I did it while learning to indexing colors to get the screens for printing, I never got to print it anyway because of those were just studies.

Ok, find it and I don't have the most remote idea how to work with that photobucket stuff, so it's a try the same way it all started. I had to reduce its dimensions in a 50% of its original size:

Ha!! You know - I had you in mind with this a bit - wondering if you did it yourself - or had your hands in it! It's beautiful! What does the writing say? I tried to do a bit of stuff with "gimp" ages back - that's an open-source photoshop, so to speak, but I never was patient enough to actually learn. I did a rocket with an octopus up front as pilot back then - maybe I find that...

If you have it on the internet somewhere - just per url with the symbol and uncheck that little box. Otherwise - we have our stuff on a free photobucket account, mostly, and you can just past the img code in here then!

Gonna check out, what stands behind "Canas" as well - or is it your work, Aristaeus? Your specific avatar is, isn't it? And it changes sometimes?

Thanks!! It says "Ukupacha" - it's a Quechua word meaning the "world below" or something like that. The original picture was taken by a friend of mine in one of his walks in an old cemetery, but I didn't put that because it was never meant to be an avatar I used the above as the starting point, then I took the provisional logo out (didn't like the fonts anyway) put some margins and fixed some things here and there and... I'm still looking for my avatar By the way, that in my signature is also part of that collection of studies.

I specially like that one (Actually I like all of the above, it's nice to see the details!!), I'd love to one day find mine in a lucid.

My avatar is of Shiro (White) from the manga/anime Tekkonkinkreet.

He is the companion of Kuro (Black), and together they form The Cats.

Spoiler for more pics because he's awesome:

He wears many fun hats...bears, a parrot, a frog, one with horns and a star...and that's just in the movie. I remember I bought it from an outlet store for a couple bucks having never heard of it, but ended up loving it.

It always makes me cry though. There are some parts where I can occasionally keep it together better...but EVERYtime Shiro cries, I cry. Its almost impossible not to.

This is probably the manga highest on my to read list also. The artwork is awesome, I think.

I've been running into the "no bare breasts rule" myself with a painted fairy a while ago - it's a bit of a shame - not sure, if it's allowed in the art-subforum..?
Thinking myself into the forum's viewpoint - probably it's simply too hard to "police" against pornography/sexism, if you make exceptions here and there.
Maybe if one uses a paint-menu and puts some black bars over the nipples? Ah - whatever...

Aaaaand some afternoon sky and the window of an old house which doesn't exist anymore Those were the old days anyway. Now I don't have neither one (this friend of mine who used to take pictures to everything went to teach something about psychology and of course I got my own camera) nor another (not working printing shirts anymore). To edit some pics, I'm using a default software that came with the scanner I think The cheap graphic tablet brought some but it's more primitive. If I'm not wrong, Photoshop has a new system for its licenses, so it's more accessible than before. I think I will use it when I really need it. Otherwise I will try some good open source if available... when I finally see my avatar in a LD, it's a goal that I always forget once lucid

P.S. Finally I figured out how to enlarge those little attachments in the quote box!!!

Mine is from this really talented guy who i discovered on Deviantart years ago, and i just really like his work. He has a lot of great pieces that fit with my mindset. I switch between a few of his pics every once in a while. I was lucky enough to get them before he watermarked all of them.

Concerning open source picture software - check out "The Gimp" Box! Been using it ages back, and it was a bit unintuitive to navigate, at least back then - but it does work!

Thanks! I'm considering that one. I see one can manage vector imaging too, that would be great because of I was looking for something like that. Let's see how fast can I adapt to this one. I like the first impressions from its website so far. If everything goes fine, then the next step would be some short animations editor, that would be fine too 'cause time, my problem is always time... march of time...

Edit: Nope. apparently it is very limited in vector imaging. I've found another one for doing that called Inkscape. Must try that one.
