So are we being graded?

Who on God's Green Earth can't tell the difference in context between your and you're. Your crazy if you think that you're grammatical spelling matters all that much when everybody with half a brain can discern what is being said. Or perhaps with half a brain one would not even notice. This seems like a case of a snotty over-scrupulousness. Your pretending to be superior over what amounts to nothing more than typos, and it only shows that you're manners are the real problem.

Also, you miss something in your post. It's not just typos, and it is not as easy to read a severely grammatically incorrect and misspelled post as it is to read a decent one. Not saying it has to be perfect, everyone makes mistakes, but people can at least try.

If the People on This Page cannot discern the meaning of a narrative only slightly distorted by an ununiform grammer, then what hope have they of unraveling the mysteries of dreaming.

No, these grammer lessons are only excuses for little but diligent minds to trot out the only superiority that they may have over others -- that they are anally fussy about wording.

A broken Narrative is only difficult to understand if the reader is particularly stupid.

a CERTAIN somebody needs to chill out and allow those of us who have great passion for the language--and who feel pained to see it repeatedly (and unnecessarily) disgraced ad nauseam--to talk amongst ourselves in our little thread, and not cast his shadow of inexorable cynicism upon it.

furthermore, there are lots of younger users here who will only be benefited in their educational pursuits with a little helping hand about how to correctly USE the language, in the many essays they may be called upon to write.

besides, i don't go running into your religious threads and dumping on YOUR fun.

and need I add that as the best writer here, I don't find it required of me to make such a fuss over spelling and grammer, and so little excuse the excessive fastidiousness in others.

btw, the irony of you denouncing others who express superiority I'm sure passed through your mind; I'd like to point out you're not the only one who noticed that.

Also, unfortunately I don't find you the best writer here...but if I had to choose someone who would immediately suggest himself the best writer, certainly it would be you.

A. This thread was meant to stop the spread of "Internet-ish" from replacing English. While I can tolerate some mistakes here and there, namely in the case of non-native speakers, when someone repeatedly has threads like "hte anml wen't ofer to the river to drink he was bigand tall" it gets kind of old... (and believe it or not, it's hard for me to type like that.)

B. "Best writer" = subjective label. I love my writing, though it could use improvement. But that's what practice is for. If I had to chose my favorite authors, though, I'd pick either David Eddings or Robert Jordan (for their generally light-hearted writing) or Fyodor Mikhailovitch Dostoevsky (for his barely fathomable depth of writing).

'Scuzzi, Don Vol-Vol, but that title belongs to me. In your long-windedness, you never fail to make needless mistakes, which disqualify you -- the grammatically confusing "and so little excuse the excessive fastidiousness in others" as one such example.

Ahhh. I've practically got tears forming at the corners of my eyes, and I am absolutely sure that my side is splitting. That is hilarious. Having dealt with a similar arrogant, anti-grammar nazi on my own forum, I fully appreciate watching you guys deal with it.

And damn it, as a lover of the English language and literature (and as an English Lit major, writer, and teacher, should you bother to check my credentials, Leo), I find that Internetish makes me squeamish.
