Considering I just started to come here not long ago, no, it doesn't bore me. But I know what you mean.

There's message boards I've went to since 02, and you can really see the effect that time has on things like that.

I don't think it's become boring at all... especially being a DG. You just need to find places where you can get involved. If you need to play around in the lounge or senseless banter there's nothing wrong with that. And sometimes you just need time off from DV.

Things change...always do. Have you had any LDs lately?

Also, if you have any ideas for how we could spice things up, feel free to let us know.

I agree with Ame. Staying active is the key. Ever since becoming a DG i have been so busy with newbie posts, welcoming messages, and just helping people out, that I have had any time yo think about being bored

I don't think it is boring. I am on all day while I am at work and I feel like I don't get enough. (I also read almost all of the posts though too.)

Actually most things i do are quite boring but when i do them at the same time they become fun.

      Ex: School = Boring
      School + DV = Fun

Theres a game i play that i probably couldn't play without doiing something else at the same time.

Just like InTheMoment said, It is what you make of it. Like anything. Not just a forum.
I can't possibly think of this getting boring. There is just way to much fun stuff to ponder over and talk about.

      Actually . . .

I don't think it is boring, but I DO think that Lucid dreaming - well, actually, the ACT of TRYING to Lucid Dream - is very wierd. I have tried to make myslef Lucid Dream several times and it made me feel like a control-freak. I mean, of all the things beyond my control, I think my dreams are at the top. So why I would spend my precious sleeptime trying to control the uncontrollable is beyond me. And even wierder still is a group of people who talk about this control fettish.
However, I love dreams. And I like philosophizing. So I like this group for those reasons. And it's nice to talk to people who have wierd dreamstates, like me.

Well look at it this way: Trying to lucid dream is just like trying to develop any other skill. I don't think the act of Trying to lucid dream has anything to do with being a control freak, ya know? Its like saying trying to learn to play the guitar is being a control freak because you're practicing a skill. Remember that trying to lucid dream is simply trying to recognize you're dreaming. You're not controlling anything in your dream until you actually Try to control something in your dream. Even that, fundamentally is not being a control freak. But if you start desiring Every aspect of your dream to be under your control, at all times, then I might have break out the Hitler jokes.

But I agree completely with your last few lines.

      Okay . . .

But guitar playing is a plotted out science. There is annotated music, etc. Dreaming by its very nature is random and unexplainable. It is chaotic. Guitar playing can be chaotic but it isn't at its most fundamental - well guitar worth listening too.
I do agree with you that you don't have to control every aspect of your dreaming though. I mean how could you do that? But isn't Lucid dreaming of any kind a form of control?

Lucid dreaming is just being aware that what you are experience is a dream. It doesn't actually imply any degree of control.

Although, of course, many (most?) people will use the knowledge of lucidity to exert control in some form other that which they otherwise might.

As Martin said, lucid dreaming, fundamentally, is simply knowing you are in a dream state. Many people are able to do this from childhood, and go for years before figuring out that many people never realize they are dreaming, while dreaming. I don't think that makes it any less fundamental. Actually, I look at it the other way around. Conscious dreaming has been around, one could argue, since man was first able to dream. Many cultures today still hold conscious dreaming as a part of constant practice. We are "modernized" to the point that dreams are unimportant. They do not Seem to be essential to our survival (unless you take the time out of mainstream input and decide to look into dream information on your own) so we are somewhat 'bred' to pay no attention to them. Again, I don't think that makes them any less fundamental. You're simply training to do what is a natural act. I think our natural ability to do so is subdued through emphasis on waking life and waking world situations, but I don't think that taking that part of your life back that is, in many times and cultures, natural as being a control freak at all. Nor do I think it is less fundamental than playing the guitar, which came along, argueably, centuries after conscious dreaming. 8)

Not too boring, a little slow though

I guess there are 3 things I dislike about the forum
      1. THe number of people that try to attribute supernatural causes to everything that happens
      2. The number of depressed people
      and finally
      3. The number of attention wh.... addicts, and how easily people will give it to them

Other than that, this forum is pretty dang neat

Boring? If it were any more exciting, my head would explode

Like everything, it's all about the effort you put into it. You can look at the posts and say "Gee, another noob has posted about dream recall, how boring" or you can say to yourself "Gee, I think I might share some of my knowledge and help some of these new people".

You can say "Boo hoo, all the cool people have left" or you can say to yourself; "I think I'll make new friends with some of the new cool people here".

It's all about attitude and perception really. Half empty or half full, which is it?

I think that if everyone would stop sitting around talking about how boring its gotten and actually Contribute by posting entertaining/interesting/thought-provoking threads, the problem would fix itself. I don't think anyone's job here is to entertain anyone else, so if someone ends up being Bored, its probably because they are boring, and are expecting everyone else here to entertain them without having to give anything back.
True the forum could use a little more spice, but I think that might change if people would stop flocking to places like Senseless Banter and start contributing some Quality in the other sections.

I think it could be better described as taking advantage of an opportunity.
It's like a door. You can open it when it presents itself, or not. Once you have a
good lucid you'll see what I mean. Lucidity is like infinite possibility. You can do
anything or nothing. Choosing to take action in your dreams is a form of control, yes.
But not in a forceful way. Just like opening a door in the real world, when you
know there's something wonderful on the other side. You've made a choice
to involve yourself in a great enviornment. Your imagination.
As far as being bored, look what this thread became.
Alot of people I've mentioned this place to don't seem to understand
my attraction to it. In addition to my love of dreaming, I've met some really great
people here and had discussions I never would have had elsewhere. Besides
that, I have a blast in Senseless Banter

Same here!! I mean, w/people that'll actually listen to dreaming & beyond that (like as in my sig....splash mentioned that). Just don't do it too much, or you could get into trouble. Nice to help out others now & then w/the same goals.
If you are not content w/just posting, you can pose as a spy, if you'd like. It is fun to do that, b/c you never know if a newbie will come w/o anyone there, & you may decide to introduce them here (just give them a good answer if they ask a question, b/c doing that is even better than making 20 greeting posts).
Sundays are Boring, b/c I cannot do pretty much anything (including in my dreams as well). The only things I am really allowed to do is eat, sleep, speed up time (LD wise), watch G movies, go to church, visit families, & write in my DJ. Everything else is prohibited, pretty much.
I am happy when Monday finally comes, & the first thing I do during my spare time is get on here as fast as I can....I can never go w/o being on here for too much longer than 2-3 hours. It is really that fun, & if I get bored of waiting for someone to post....I will just watch one of the Flash movies in someone else's sig, or maybe work on my LD music video (taking me 4ever, so I may never finish it at this point, but it is still fun to work on).
Also, this website is like my really close friend, & I feel as if I have to make sure all is standing, & protect it! Even when it is supposedly time for me to try to WILD, I cannot until I make sure all is standing (sometimes I have no choice) on here!!
