      Just So You Know...

Well, I'm going (or already have been) away from the forums for a while, because on a whim I've foolishy decided to move to Slackware Linux. Which is a pretty dumbarse descision, because I have absolutely no clue how to use Linux, and the last thing I should do is choose the hardest, newbie-unfriendly distribution there is. But I did anyway.

So, depending on how fast I can get it working, I'll be away. And knowing how stupid I am, I'll probably be away for a loooooong time

While I'm gone, make sure you all post twice as much to make up for my disappearance

      I'm baaack!

I'm writing this in Slackware Linux 9.1 right now.

Anyway, after alot of whacking heads on desks, screaming at the computer monitor and breaking fragile things, I got it working. It didn't take as long as I antcipated it would...

Linux is fun.. I booted PHLAK from the cd on our old Pentium II, 266mhz computer because a plethora of windows startup files were gone (and a system disk didn't cut it..).. So I got it working and now it's all mine...

And Saturday.. I get to get many free computer books because my mom's friend's husband died and now she is moving..

ah, what does it matter, this is senseless banter. ive already typed too much.

      Naw.

I posted this thread because, as had happened to me alot of times before, Linux might not like my wireless connection and not let me post. And that usually takes me about a week to fix. But this time, it worked, so I'm staying with my kickass Slackware 9.1. It's actually the last distribution I ever thought I was going to use.

That was partly it, but I wasn't intending to move to Linux. But, as if to mock me, Windows XP suddenly deleted all the important stuff (but decided to be real nice and leave a ton of useless crap behind), so I moved to Linux. And I like it now

Well, it didn't delete it, it just happily corrupted them all with good ol' Scandisk. Which is pretty much the same as deleting, because it was useless.

There are backdoors in Windows XP software, so, yes, he could watch you, find your credit card numbers and invade your privacy to his hearts content. If you read the Windows Media Player EULA closely, he even has reserved himself the right to delete your music files if he feels like it. That's why I like Linux: Fast, free, and no activation or really long drawn out suspcious looking agreements!

What???? He can delete my music????? I use Winamp, but it still makes you doubt about the rest of the programs, and the rights they have taken over them as well....

Damn you Bill Gates!!!! Just retire and enjoy your billions of money and leave us all alone!!!!!

lol, we all say how much we hate microsoft, but yet nearly everyone uses windows. If linux was more userfriendly then we could all move to it and have a real reason to laugh at microsoft.
      You guys suck.

Well, before most applications and games support *nix I'm not removing Windows. However, I just downloaded and burned the Penguin Sleuth Kit. Pretty nice, but my sound doesn't work

Linux is userfriendly enough for me, and that's saying something.
