Acutally it shouldn't be a trace to the IP address unless the IP is hard-coded, but shouldn't the database keep records of the MAC address instead since it's not interchangable like and IP?

IPs change? There's no way you can make a ban stick if the person is determined enough.
EDIT: By the way, Ne-yo, what on Earth is up with your sudden Google thing? I mean Google is lovely I'm sure but, uh, it's not exactly trendy to use as an avatar. :P
you have to be directly connected to a machine in order to get it's mac
the only thing directly connected is likely to be your router

LOL... I must have gotten google fever or something. I'm in transistion thinking of a New Avatar and I was going to wear google for the time being. Actually I was thinking of setting a new trend. I mean can you imagine people in forums with Avatars like MSN, YAHOO, MOZZILLA or IE ...LOL That would be freaking hilarious...
Sorry I must disagree. What if I had access to the Host Server, and the server is Dynamic, I would then be able to view the MAC address of each user on that server.
So did any PHP programmer worth his salt, I'd bet. :P
Uh. I'm not entirely sure what you mean there. "The server is dynamic" how? Either way he (Ynot) is right here. The internet is a (surprisingly) anonymous place when you want it to be. :PQuote:

I guess, in a way, it's kind of one-and-the-same since the prior is so accommodating to the latter.Quote:

They control which sites you can visit. It limits the power of the Internet by disallowing you to venture into lands that compete with their own services, such as places on Yahoo or Web pages that have games or chat. I always say Once you trapped then there is no escaping. AOL is just a Virus.
I never thought a day would come when I defended AOL. So, uh, okay, I know that I said AOL sucks but I'm using AOL right now. I've always been able to access Yahoo sites and pretty much any site on the internet. I've never been filtered. Not once, and I sincerely hope not ever.
I can't even see the AOL client because it's on my administrator account. I'm not sure where you got the walled garden theory from but it's totally wrong. Yes, they have irritating portal things but I just hide them along with the client. They're currently the most competitive provider in my area, the only ones I know that offer 56k with a flat subscription (i.e. unmetered, not that you can exactly barrel through the megabytes on dialup).
Sorry my bad Kaniaz I didn't know you were using AOL like right at this moment. I was way out of line. If you wasn't using AOL like right at this moment then I could've ranted on about it. But since you are using AOL like right now I take back what I said.
Hey Look what I found. A Clue!

wtf :wtf:
"kaniaz and CT"?!
the hell
I made that image years ago (hence CT being in it, god bless his beer/metalhead soul?). I'm not sure exactly why Ne-Yo's dug it up.
So why was this thread Split? What happened.
