MASSIVE DANGER: Polly Pocket and Barbie
So 7 million (or 9 million?) Mattel toys are not safe: Barbie, Polly Pocket, Batman, and a jeep are a hazard for children and have to be recalled.
But I guess this means that the 200 million privately-owned firearms in circulation in the US are perfectly safe, and are no risk at all for children (or for anyone else, presumably, as no recall order has been issued).
Sorry guys, but seen from outside the States, this is an example of something other countries have trouble understanding: obsession with safety, yet at the same time... guns everywhere.
(It reminds me of how it’s ok for TV and movies to shower us with endless violence involving guns, robbery, aggression, killing, torture, but... as soon as Janet Jackson shows a nipple, the whole country panics).
I’m really not anti-American, but you guys are really strange sometimes...
The Right To Bear Teddies!!
Skysaw got me thinking: maybe this whole operation is a plot by the NRA to get children on their side. Along the lines of: “Children, the government wants to take away you toys! You need to protect your polly pockets! Batman needs your help! Get a gun, now”.
I can’t imagine a more fervent gun owner (and NRA member) than the average six-year-old whose toys are about to be removed and destroyed by the Federal Government...
I’m also surprised that the race-relations / equal rights / civil liberties groups (not sure what they call themselves in the States, sorry) are not making a fuss at the idea (from the toys’ point of view) that “the government wants to remove you because your Maker painted you the wrong color”...
