I've been away for a while, and since I was last active on this forum, it seems everyone has turned into assholes, with a few exceptions. Arrogance, verbal diarrhea, aggressiveness, disrespectfulness; these are a only few of the traits I've encountered recently. Is there a factory somewhere, churning them out? It's like DV has given drugs and alcohol to 11 year olds with unstable emotions and let them loose on the forums.
Personally, I blame video games. Also George Bush. And terrorism.
Another rant about the assholes on DV? Oh noes. :(
I blame the internet. But I agree also, while being vaguely aware that I may have contributed my fair share of hate. Apparently.

Honest. I keep hearing about the complaints of certain members, but I never seem to notice it much (except for chat - but that's a different beast). I chalk it up to my rare appearance in here.
Most issues seem to spawn from within this section (or off topic). With good reason - it's 'sensless' and it's 'banter' - merely a place for people to just kick back and shoot the shit. Unfortunately, some see that as a free pass to discuss George Bush, video games, and terrorism ;)
The internet is full of assclowns.
This is a reflection of the entire population outside the internet.
The challenge is learning how to deal with them and live with them. Be it ignore, discourse, fight, kill, negotiate, etc.

There is a 1000 post thread completely devoted to hugs. It's not that bad in the real forum. The reason that the off-topic forum has gotten heated is because the majority of the members here are americans. There is an election coming in a year and the country is pretty divided because there are sensitive issues: civil rights, war, torture...
I admit that I've gotten involved in some of those debates, I'm pro civil rights, anti war, and anti torture and feel very strongly about all three. There are people that feel very strongly the other way so we debate. It starts out friendly, but then degenerates into a shouting match. So I'm going to blame this on kittens, but they're so cute I can't stay mad at them.

Baaaah, I've seen discussion regarding SB a few times before, and I used to be on the side of people who said, "Well it's SB, that's what it's for..."
I have since changed my mind completely, mostly because of what's been going on the past while. It's not supposed to be that senseless! It's so senseless that regulars who aren't the 4 or 5 of you steer clear of it. How is that healthy for this forum.
