      Creepy Coincidences

Any odd things happen that have caught you by surprise or creeped you out, that seem much too coincidental?

For example, today I was walking home from school and I was thinking about a concept for a short story I could write. I'd been thinking about it indepth, and the story centered around a character called "The Ghost." When I walk in my house today, there was a whiteboard hanging on the wall that is usually in the kitchen, and it had a 3 or 4 ghosts drawn on it with the "Ghost?" written on it. First thing I saw when I walked in the door. Kinda made me wide eye'd for a second.

      Anyone else?

Who drew/wrote it? Anyone claim responsibility? Otherwise I'd think your subconscious is playing tricks on you.

No one was home! Though I'd assume my sisters wrote it for some reason whatever it may be.

My friend told me about one once:

He was on holiday in Venezuala, and he and his family were in a remote little tourist town (you know the sort) and they stopped at a café. He was looking around the seating area and he saw a man wearing our school's rugby shirt. Naturally, my friend thought that the man was an ex-member wearing his old shirt, but no, actually the man had been given a shirt by one of our teachers years ago when our school had been on a rugby tour. In. Australia.

I personally don't believe in a sort of "fate" but that's definitely odd.

This happened to my family in general... I find it pretty strange:
When we moved from Germany back to England, we had with us a unique print of a German poster that my dad had had made for my mum. Unfortunately, it went missing in the move. We forgot about it, and about a month ago, after well over a year since it went missing, my dad was walking around London and saw it in a Charity shop.

Considering how big London is, how many charity shops there must be, and how unlikely it is that my dad should happen to walk past that particular charity shop, during the period of time after the poster was brought there but before it was sold.... you get the idea.

Also, I had a friend at an old school who had a habit of coming in as soon as you started speaking about him. We'd go 'where's Leon?', and immediately he'd come in Sometimes I think he was waiting outside, listening

I have lots of weird coincidences like this all the time. I write them down when they happen and keep a log - kinda like a DJ - because I never rememeber them later. It's pretty freaky sometimes - hard to chock up to pure coincidence sometimes...

      All the time..

Last night my friend goes T.G.I.F.(thank god it's friday) while on our way to a bar.

I started thinking about another acronym to say...so I start thinking: I..Can't..Wait..To..Get..Drunk. Took me about 4-5 secs to spell out the acronym in my head and by the time I was JUST ABOUT to say ICWTGD, my buddy calmly says. I can't wait to get drunk.

I'M LIKE WHAT THE HELL?! I was just creeped out from him the rest of the night..

I was singing "I saw the sign" from that one song as I descended into the basement, and I tripped over a paperweight that said "Sin now, Pay later."

I had just gotten a perfect score on that song whilst playing DDR, which explains while I was singing. Careless people can account for the stray paperweight. I had nothing to feel guilty about, so I only thought "ha, that'd make a good coincidence if it were applicable."

Aquanina he was just trying to defend you, no reason to get defensive there.

But yeah, I get rather annoyed when posts get deleted. Locking... maybe. But randomly deleting posts isn't right and a mod should not do that.

The biggest coincidence in my life (so far) was probably when I was playing a game of scrabble; I scored a massive amount of points with "spike". Then later on in the game, I went to go look up a word, opened the dictionary, and at the top left of the first page I randomly opened was "spike" in capital letters. Pretty cool.

I think of all these coincidences as just being unlikely events - unlikely events have to occur sometime. And think, pretty much every instant of your life could be subject to a freaky coincidence. So it's not that odd that every once in a while, something coincidental does happen. It's just chance.

Also, in response to Exo's link, quite a few of those are very obscure. There is no way in hell that they can be taken as truth.

I can't help but wonder why this is in Senseless, anyway? o.O

      Anyway, to add:

The other day, I was out for a bike ride, listening to my mp3 player. I heard a lyric that reminded me of some of the dialogue from a movie that I haven't seen in years (called: A Low Down Dirty Shame) and I would have remembered seeing it, because I love that movie, and I could easily tell that it's been such a long time since I've seen it.

Later that night, I was about to make my newest music video for Blade and I was searching through songs on my hard drive. While wondering which song to choose, I thought of a song that I haven't heard in a really long time (More Human Than Human by White Zombie), which I didn't have on my PC. Again, I've always really liked that song, so I downloaded it and it was easy to realize that I hadn't heard this song in ages, even though I listen to Real Rock 101.1 a lot and they play that type of music.

So, the very next day, what happens? I'm driving home, listening to Real Rock and More Human Than Human comes on. I get home and, within an hour, A Low Down Dirty Shame came on t.v.

I tripped out on that one.

On topic...something strange happened to me while I was watching the movie, Signs.

I find this movie very scary in the first place. It was at the point in the movie, and I am not making this up or exaggerating for effect...when Mel Gibson sees something dark (an alien) on the roof.

That wasn't the scary part. The scary part, was that at the exact instant that he sees the alien on the roof (I was laying in bed watching this movie)...there was a very loud bang/noise on my own roof. Not only was there a bang, but it shook my entire bedroom. After a few seconds I got the courage to try and find out what the noise was and left my bedroom. It had woken up my parents as well, and my dad came up to my room to ask if I knocked something over.

We couldn't find where the noise came from. My dad walked around the entire perimeter of our house and couldn't find anything that fell or that could have made such a noise and cause the house to shake.

I think it was aliens on my roof.

The strangest part...is that I remember thinking how crazy it would be if I actually received some sort of "sign" while watching the movie Signs. Not even a second after this thought I heard the bang on the roof at exactly the same moment as in the movie.

I was in a cafe one time, and looking at all the torani flavoring syrups they had. I saw lime. And then I saw the coconut. And then I thought of the "lime and the coconut" jingle. Then I realized that it was playing in the cafe. But, perhaps that was just a subconscious thing (mind heard the song, but I didn't really realize it, so I thought of it).

I would just call coincidences, cutting through the illusory veil of time put there by your mind. Where you get to see a brief view of the world as a construct of yourself without time. Hence why it often times comes with a sense of having experienced it before.

More recently, I was doing sit ups in my room and got the urge to look at one of the 250+ records strewn about my room. While I was standing there staring at it wondering why I felt the need to stop what I was doing and get it, my cell phone rang and it was call from Tower Records letting me know that SAME artists upcoming album will be pushed by 1 month. Even though, I asked them about it 6-7months prior and didn't ask them to call me.

The name of the upcoming album? BT: This Binary Universe.

Something all to common. Needless to say, I smiled...

I have loads more, but that one was undeniable.

Here's another pretty creepy one that had both me and my friends doing double takes. I was coming back from a party with some friends late night early morning. I got into an argument with a girlfriend at the time, telling her I didn't like how she handled herself. She tried to justify it or make an excuse which made me go over my boiling point where I yelled and pointed my finger, "SORE HA CHIGAU!!!" (That's wrong!) and at that EXACT moment there was a 5 second earthquake shaking the entire house. Pretty weird, eh?

OK, this happened today and I thought of this thread.

I've been watching my way through Lost, a present from a friend. Tonight I started watching Season 3.

Earlier in the day, I'd watched the first episode of 'The Office'. In it, the boss goes up to his secretary and asks her what she's reading. It's a book called 'Popcorn'.

Now, watching Lost, there's a girl in a reading group who has picked 'Popcorn' to be their book of the week.

I mean, the same book featuring in two different tv shows, that I happen to watch on the same day. I didn't even know I was going to watch the Office until tonight. That weirded me out a bit.
