I'm so glad someone's doing what so many of us want to do. I'm an office temp (lowest of the low) and I relish the victory walk when I quit.

Plus his takedown was great - so damn undignified.

I don't at all condone what he did. People have to control themselves even when they are among total assholes. However, I know how he feels. I used to be an office temp too. That job gives you a good glimpse into the shit side of the walk of life that is generally considered good and respectable. I could have sworn that some of my bosses were not even human. They were like cyborgs that were programmed to make money and act arrogant as shit about it, and nothing else.

I felt pretty bad for the woman on the desk next to him, I mean hell, she took a monitor in the face! Otherwise I was kind of cheering when he wrecked the copier.

Some of the rules set by management are, objectively speaking, brilliant though.
Example 1: There are virtually no women where I work, and it's a big place. We're like men lost at sea, the frustration is tangible. So you end up with a work force who have to channel it somewhere and end up being more productive, albeit begrudgingly.
Example 2: we have to log EVERYTHING on an internal timer - toilet break, a colleague asking a question, etc - and they pull you up if you're even 4 seconds late from lunch (seriously - although that's probably boredom on the manager's part). Combined with example one you have one highly strung and highly productive workforce.

I know how that is. I had a job where we were allowed seven "occurrences" before getting fired. Missing work for any reason, even the death of a child, was an "occurrence". Clocking in a thousandth of a second late to work or from break or lunch counted as one too. There were no excuses. I worked for a very big corporation, and the personal nature of the employees didn't mean a thing to upper management. If you were messing up business, you were gone, period. There was an exact minute that the people in my department could clock in. You could not clock in before that minute, and one second after that minute got you an occurrence. One day, they reset the damn clock, so I showed up for work at the exact moment I was supposed to and clocked in a matter of seconds late because the clock was reset. I was so pissed. I talked to my supervisor and department manager about it, and they were like, "Sorry. It's the rule, and we can't do anything. You got an occurrrence."

I can understand why a big company needs to be run like that, but it still pissed me off.

Occurences - That's brilliant, Oh hell I do love corporate spiel, endless mirth. But again, sheer genius; you gotta keep the fear in the workforce; there's a whole line of suckers outside to take your place (probably me).

You know I think I'd be cool with it if they didn't pretend to care, if they just gave you a number and said get in line you tool. I'd kind of appreciate the honesty. I mean everyone knows it's a lie anyway, but then again, that's genius in it's own right - when they have you working to their lies then they really do have you. You just gotta work the system; I have no religious beliefs but it's amazing how often I feel the need to repent and go to the private prayer room. Oh and modding your Id card id endless fun, I have a lone ranger mask on my mugshot.

Eep, I'm stopping now, it's my day job it's not me, plus no-one's making me work there. They can have my time when they pay for it, they're not getting me for free, I'm a corporate whore after all.

Dammit, I wish I could've heard what was happening too.

My respect goes to the guy who got the hammer off him.

I think it was the fact that he turned a bit and saw what he did, yet he kept on talking.

You're probably right.. and they seemed to exchange words when the guy picked the papers up and put them haphazardly back on his desk.

I'd shove their occurences up their occuring asses

What kind of evil corporation punishes people for being late 4 seconds? that is absolutely an abomination. At my company people do w/e they want whenever they want and they take long breaks for lunch, up to 1.5 hours or more sometimes and there is no clocking in or out, its very laid back.
I would rather die on my feet then to live on my knees.

I'm really surprised that it took that long for someone to step up and take that guy down.

I worked in an office full of women and only about 3 guys...and that dude would have been on his back within seconds of pelting that chick the face with the monitor.

Yes, they totally suck. It is not sitting in the office all day that sucks. It is the corporate machine bullshit that comes with it. Sitting in an office all day is fine as long as you are working for yourself and can look out the window and take breaks whenever you want to without having to answer to anybody, but those sit in a cubicle and answer to the man jobs are horrible. The time pressure aspects make it impossible to even have a few seconds here and there for your own thoughts. That is what almost had me in a straight jacket.

I love the movie Office Space because I relate to the main character so much. I was that guy for a while. That movie is such a good satire of lower level corporate office jobs.

All the more proof that the world's bullshit. People shouldn't be made to piss around in prison offices. Then again I can't think of a better system.
