Oh yeah I used to really like the movie as a kid, never got around to reading the book though. Isn't the original in German or something? I wonder if the translation is any good.

You are officially the coolest person EVER because that is THE best movie/story EVER!!!

I've always said that if they did the movie again, like Lord of the Rings style, with amazing creatures and Peter Jackson-type shit, my head would pretty much explode. Like, if I saw a preview for it today in the theater I would probably cry. Like, actually.

HAH. That was probably the most hilarious thing I've ever read.

You wanna know something eerie?
Every time I read that book, I always forget what happens in it after a year or two.
Then I get to re-read it like I had never read it in the first place.

Also, I had no idea it was translated from German!
I guess I owe some of my favorite childhood memories to Germany:
Thumbelina and the Neverending Story.
