Holding the lifeless body of her dead child like a rag doll, this female gorilla stares at the corpse in shock and bewilderment, unable to accept that her baby is dead. It is a picture of pure grief. i saw a video of it on tv a few minutes ago, gana (the mother) was just holding it trying to wake it up and was kissing it and holding it close to her face.

i also saw another video on tv where a little 5 year old boy feel unconscious into a gorilla pit and a male gorilla came over to the child and protected him from the baby gorillas and others until the child woke up.

Jesus Christ that picture made me cry.

you should see the video, if i can find it i'll post it.

it looked like what a person in real life would probably do if their baby had died, to me anyways.

A female gorilla has been grieving after the sudden death of her three-month-old baby.

Gana,11, has been staring at the lifeless body of baby Claudio in shock, unable to accept that he is dead.

She tried gently placing him on her back and slowly walking around the zoo in Munster, northern Germany, stopping to look if he had returned to life every few paces.

On Monday, zookeepers were still unable to get to the body of Claudio, because of Gana fiercely guarding over him.

According to zoo officials, visitors openly wept as they witnessed her actions.

Zoo director Joerg Adler said: "Claudio died in his mother's arms - we think from some heart defect. We will do an autopsy."
